Bug? Lock Weapons - Mace

My human lock found a nice mace, but the word Mace was red. I thought that was because I needed Mace training.

I went to IF for the training, but the trainer didn’t show me anything, he had a black screen (would have been nice if he said something instead of just standing there).

I had looked in the spellbook, and it said: Human locks have a racial of +5 to 1H and 2H maces.

I questioned this yesterday in a thread and was informed that locks cannot use maces.

To make sure, I built two more locks (one each male/female), both human. And indeed, they both showed the same racial. +5 to 1H and 2H maces.

Humans all share the same racial characteristics. However, a warlock is not allowed to wear maces per the class. Just as say a priest can’t use a bow or a hunter a shield. Each class for the most part has certain weapon restrictions (hunters have the least restrictions)

I understand that.

But, if locks can’t use maces (and the other characters have similar restrictions), we just lost a racial. I would have expected Blizzard to put out the correct information for different characters.

Thanks.

What do you mean lost a racial? The weapon skill of a warlock outside of Wand doesn’t matter regardless, you’re never gonna use it. It’s a stat stick period. Now I don’t want to sound elitist because everyone is welcome to play whatever class they want to on whatever race. But if you are that focused on racials as a warlock, you should’ve been a gnome anyways.

You need your hand held at a vendor lol? Go back to retail.

Locks and hunters can’t use maces.

Can we stop using this as an insult please? Can we be more inclusive as a community instead of total asshats to people who have never played the older versions? It’s not their fault. Some of them weren’t even old enough to play a game when it came out. This is still a game, they have every right to try it out and enjoy it as the rest of us.

Well said.

We can all loot any weapon and your racial is not lost, just not applicable. You dont benefit from 2h sword’s. Also non casters font really get a benefit from the spirit racial. Sure it helps regenerating hp on a warrior, but not as much as it does on a lock.

“Oh no I can’t use my racial bonus to melee people as a lock, class is broken”

what even

Unbelievable.

here is a way to think of it, you pick your race first, no race is restricted by any weapon, spell, gear of any kind. its the class that imposes the restrictions. if you pick a class available that the weapon racial has no effect, it does not mean there is something wrong, it means you picked a class for a race that you like, even if it means you wont get 100% benefit of its racials. nothing wrong with it, the racials dont change based on what class you pick.

Its not really that big a deal though unless you wanna min/max. if that is the case than you would have picked a gnome for the increase in intel, as locks only use weapons for the stats only.

hopefully this does not come off rude, I am just trying to explain why you had the experience and help with your future race/class selections in classic =)
