The Original Hunter’s Mark animation was only a nicer looking arrow moving up and down above the target. Not the less fancy arrow we have currently and there was no flashing reticle on the target. I believe the new animation came about later. The animation we have in Classic is what I remember. What you’re seeing there on Classic Wowhead is I believe from The Burning Crusade Pre-patch which was released on 12/5/2006, close to those pictures releases.
But the reticle flashing shouldn’t be happening. If memory serves right, it’s suppose to ‘hone’ in once then fade.

the animation of the arrow is right, but I am pretty sure the fancier arrow was in vanilla. Like I said pretty sure. I saw screenshots from old vanilla hunters with it on other sites too. and yea I remember the reticle honing and then it was just the arrow.
