[BUG] Dungeons instantly teleport players out

I posted a couple of threads about this on the EU forums and on Reddit but hoping to raise the issue here so Blizzard become aware of it.

In the Stress Test build of WoW, there is a bug where players will be instantly teleported to the nearest Graveyard.

I believe this is related to the player cap for Dungeons, and an error where the actual cap is being misinterpreted somewhere by the game.

Here is the TL;DR:

  • 10 people CAN enter a dungeon (Working as intended)
  • If you try and enter a dungeon that has more than 10 players, you will get a message saying “The instance is full” (Working as intended)
  • If you enter combat in the dungeon whilst 10 players are present, 5 random players will instantly be teleported to the nearest Graveyard. (BUG!)

I’ve tested this bug on the stress-test with Deadmines, Ragefire Chasm and The Wailing Caverns so I believe it affects every instance.

Here is the information about dungeon player caps in Vanilla:

1.3 introduced a dungeon cap of 10 players for most dungeons, and 15 players for BRS. (Dire Maul was always 5)

All dungeons now have a cap on group size to limit the number of players that may enter the dungeon. It was necessary to add this cap as raiding these dungeons trivialized much of the content. Because of this change we can now look to adding better loot to them during future content patches.

With that in mind, the dungeons below now have the following caps:

Onyxia/Molten Core - 40 members Blackrock Spire - 15 members Dire Maul - 5 members All other dungeons in the game will be capped at 10 members.Several dungeons will be re-examined for balancing in light of this change. In addition, will have their loot improved significantly for the next content patch.

1.10 Added several summoned bosses to dungeons, and Blizzard reduced the dungeon cap of BRD, Strat and Scholo to 5 man, and BRS to 10 man.

In order to preserve the challenge of these dungeons, they have had their instance caps lowered. Stratholme, Scholomance, and Blackrock Depths now allow a maximum of five players inside, and Blackrock Spire allows a maximum of ten.

1.12 Player Caps for Dungeons should be as follows:

Dire Maul, Blackrock Depths, Stratholme, Scholmance - 5 man

All other dungeons including Blackrock Spire - 10 man

There is a wealth of contemporary video evidence for this on yotuube, from Classic and TBC era showing 10 man dungeon runs in places such as Deadmines.

Please help raise attention to this bug. Though 10 man content isn’t considered “meta relevant” it was a part of the Classic experience.

1: You just proved that classic should be 5 man dungeons
2: Where is any video evidence of anything you are suggesting, because without it, your words are meaningless

I think you need to reread, I proved that only 4 dungeons were 5 man.

I think Pleasefix is correct, most dungeons should be 10 man in classic and i have seen a few references to that being the case in the past.

If I remember correctly, I think the OP is right and most of the instances were 10 man except for the ones he pointed out. But by 1.12, we generally 5 man everything except for BRS. I don’t think you can do a lot of the dungeon quests in a 10 man raid unless the quest specifically said raid.

My first runs through places like Ubrs, Lbrs, and Strath were in 10 man grps.

Yeah they were 10 man originally and changed in 1.10 to be 5 man. I’d have hoped they’d still be 10 man in Phase 1 but I’ll just be happy with the other dungeons being fixed at this point.

Not sure how this was missed in beta.

Will this get noticed in general discussion? Is there a way of getting this moved to the bugs section?

Not sure, I’ve seen other threads moved but unsure how they were moved to those forums. Unsure if that’s a report feature or not, I know you used to be able to report posts for sticky…
