I’ve just been playing the game normally and suddenly I can’t strafe at all. My A and D keys work just fine (see I can type them^). I tried /reload, restarted the game twice, disabled all addons, died and rezzed.
I can strafe just fine on OTHER characters but my Evoker is totally bugged.
EDIT: FIXED. You need to make an Evoker on ANOTHER realm. Log on, strafe, then deleted it and log back over.
This actually worked. I was mid-run and all of a sudden couldn’t strafe left or right.
Made a character, was able to strafe, deleted it and now my main can strafe again.
What a stupid bug.
This is happening to me as well, and it is HORRIBLE. The quickest fix I found is to swap to any other character, strafe, then log back. This is a serious bug that NEEDS to get fixed ASAP. This can’t happen when I’m in a dungeon, it’s a huge problem when trying to dodge mechanics and your character just spins instead of strafing.
Same issue and confirmed fix. Just jumped on an alt, strafed back and forth with Q and E, then jumped back on my main and poof, problem fixed. Such a goofy bug

This happens to me sometimes and after pressing alt it works… Don’t know how useful that is for retail though.
This seems to be a new bug when you cannot strafe sideways, you can move forward and backwards but not strafe, and it happened to me yesterday.
The solution, for now seems to log into a different toon and strafe there to then log back to the first toon.
You cannot even strafe with the arrows when the camera is mouse is locked neither if you change keybinds.
Yeah I know, I’m just saying that it happens to me sometimes, I can move back and forth but not left to right and me pressing alt fixes it.
Again, I don’t know how that would help someone on the retail client but there you go.

Not sure why this is on Classic but its what shows in google top result. This is NOT evoker specific it just happened to me on my Demon Hunter. The fix is indeed log on an alt and strafe then swap back.
Happened on retail to my hunter. I logged into an alt, and strafed, fixed it. I’m familiar with the stuck meta key problem, this was different. If it was the meta key problem pretty sure switching the alt thing would not fix it.
100% FIX after trying everything.
Change keybinds to strafe instead of turn (change to turn then strafe if it’s strafe already)
Get on your dragonflight mount fly for a few seconds that should fix it.
It’s weird I know but the only solution that worked randomly for me.

It appears that if you’re on a DF mount when you enter an instance like a dungeon, your strafe can break. Just leaving the instance and then getting on a DF mount again, landing properly, it fixes it.
I had the same thing happen to me but cannot create an evoker on another realm.
Recreating teh WTF folder resolved this for me :
Close out the game completely
In WoW folder : RENAME you WTF directory to anything “_WTF”
Launch WoW like you normally would. (this will force the game client to recreate a clean WTF folder.
Enter the game world and make surte you CAN strafe now
Log out and close WOW
DELETE you newly created “WTF” directory
Restore your old _WTF to WTF (rename)
Launch game client and enter game world.
Issue should be resolved

random had this issue twice since Dragonflight release. Closed game and even reload ui doesn’t work. But the fixed I had was changing to alt then back to character seems to fix, smh

This is still happening RIP.
Alt swapping did not fix it for me. I had to make a new character, strafe on it, and -then- it fixed my main character. All alts were working, but going on them did nothing for my main.
I was able to get it fixed by switching to an alt, but I also had this bug.
Restarting the game didnt fix it either. Going to an alt, walking and strafing a bit, then switching back to my evoker worked to fix it, but holy god that’s a horrendous bug.
It doesnt have to deal with switching instances either, as I was just running around in Obsidian Citadel. My game lagged, fps dropped, and I got disconnected. Logged back into being unable to strafe.
This did not fix it for me. Not at all. Nor did rebinding the keys, reloading ui, closing game, disabling all addons, or clearing the cache folder. still stuck. still can’t strafe. only on 1 toon.
