Hey all,
I just returned to WoW after a long break. When I left during Wrath of the Lich King, I had several level 79 twinks with XP locked. I logged in today, Cata, and found two things (after I unintentionally leveled to 80):
- My XP lock was disabled for some reason.
- I was at 1 XP away from level 80.
I ported to Stormwind to find the NPC, Behsten, that locks xp gains and somehow walking into Stormwind Keep was counted as discovering areas within Stormwind gave me 8 XP. That single discovery leveled me to 80 and completely ruined my twink.
This shouldn’t happen. Stormwind was fully explored in vanilla, TBC, wrath, …pre-Cata, and my XP lock was intentionally set. I know I’m not the only returning player with a twink like this, and this feels like an unintended consequence of the expansion phase changes or account migration.
Is there any way to restore the character to level 79 or at least get GM help? This feels like a bug tied to phased exploration XP and improperly re-enabled XP gain.
Anyone else run into this? Any advice?
