Why don’t buffs obey the ‘auto self cast’ like heals?

Rez after a wipe, hit Arcane Int/Fortitude/Mark/Skyfury
Invalid target.
(or maybe the error is that it requires a target? idk, can’t check right now)

Been a problem for a while, but redoing buff sequences for shaman reminded me that this has been a constant minor annoyance. It only started in… DF maybe? Now that I think of it, did this break when mouseover casting was added??

Maybe it’s due to them being in a macro, that DOES break things it shouldn’t.

In my exp it seems to be an issue with cross-faction groups. Also an issue that goes away while you’re in combat.

If you’re using macros you can probably fix it with

#showtooltip
/cast [help] [@player] SPELL

Interesting, did not think of that.
I’d been trying to target self and then targetlasttarget but that was a hefty character count on a macro that also serves as /equipset and in-combat minor defensives.
