Buff Subtlety Rogue Damage

Subtlety Rogues are looking to be quite weak in The Eternal Palace. It is weaker than both Outlaw and Assassination in terms of output, while also suffering a lot more from raid mechanics that force you to go out of melee range. The only potential strength that Subtlety has is the ability to spec into strong 10-second burst windows, which is very situational. Barring any number tuning, Subtlety will continue to be the weakest Rogue spec by a large margin.

Above is the Subtlety Rogue viability in TEP post from Icy Veins. I love playing this class so much, but reading this and seeing other the rogue specs do significantly more damage compared to Subtlety makes me very sad. Please buff our damage so we can be at least on-par with the other specs. Unfair.

No. Just leave it alone. It has to be the least played, lowest DPS, and have the worst mechanics so that it actually gets reworked. Buffing the damage is not a solution. The spec needs to be in the S$#@ER for them to fix it and give it the fundamental changes it needs.

Don’t buff Sub. Sub is dead and buried. Force them to rework the spec by not playing it at all.

Everything Sub can do, Sin and Outlaw can do better or equally.

It actually isn’t just damage. Sin and Outlaw are fundamentally better players for not playing Sub. Anyone saying Sub is viable is wrong; Sin and Outlaw are better. In terms of numbers, the best Sub Rogues do 10-30% less DPS than your average mythic Sin/Outlaw Rogue.

It’s likely that Subtlety is intentionally undertuned so that players do not get attached to its current design before the upcoming 9.0 rework. Blizzard has access to all the data in the world about spec performance and representation so there is no possible interpretation other than the notion that this tuning must be intentional.

There is precedent for this, for example Blizzard has admitted they intentionally undertuned Demonology Warlocks when a major rework was planned, and they have done it in other cases as well.

Sub right now can compete w/ Outlaw in TEP (there’s no Sin rogue in the raid, so I can’t speak to that) – but it requires very specific gear/talent/playstyle choices that are frankly abusive to play with. In short, if you can’t get 40%+ uptime on Shadow Dance, you’re gonna have a bad time. Since getting SD up that often requires chaining things in just the right way, any errors made in the rotation will just compound. I’d say that’s presently the biggest issue I find with Sub: There’s presently zero margin for error.

I do agree w/ Shoes that they’re likely doing this to dissuade people until they can do a re-work, but I think that rework won’t come until 9.1 (I think 9.0 is too full already). A bit disappointing either way, as I suck at both Outlaw & Assassination

God I hope you’re right
