This spell is the absorb you put on someone as mountain thane and it’s such a fun spell but it’s soooo weak. I hope they buff it.
I mean, the other option is a longer Storm bolt. Neither are very decent considering it’s a hero talent.
It’s just a fun ability so I’d like it to be more useful.
It’s tuned pretty well against the other option though, Stormbolt copping a 10s increased CD but also cleaving to 2 nearby targets isn’t exactly broken utility either.
So the small shield enabling you to save the lives of others on groupwide damage is neat for keys if you’re playing Fury MT. Just don’t intervene the tank or you’ll die faster than you can blink.
I feel like the storm bolt hits two additional random targets is pretty troll. We already have a stun DR problem in keys because everyone is so used to just sending aoe stuns. So comparing storm shield to something that actively makes you a worse player isnt fair.
Compare the shield to impending victory. 30% max HP heal on a 25s cooldown vs intervene on a 25 second cooldown.
As tank, there are very few abilities you can intervene – but there are some! Like the maggot breath from the first boss of NW. Or you might be able to save an ally from a fixate they get too close to and you have very good timing.
But 95% of the time it is useless so giving it a shield based on our max HP would be much better. Since intervene is going on an ally I’d say it needs to be less than impending victory but not much maybe 20% max HP.
As dps, like you said you basically can’t intervene to take a hit for someone, it only functions as a friendly charge for movement. Which is good imo.
Edit: where is storm bolt cleave even taken? RBGs?
I so badly want Intervene to have a pass-through on unparryable would-be fatal damage.
The worst is getting random unparryable attacks through a DbtS-Intervene. Granted, at least still bubble-sharing the tank (BoP-Vene, as not to drop tank threat) still works reliably if running with a Ret or Prot PLD, but… so close to so much more utility.
