Trying to think of small buffs that might help disc.
Maybe increase the smite absorb amount by 100%?

Thatâs going to be extremely OP.
It might actually be one of the better knobs to turn, since it canât scale with atonements.
Not really sure why that would be âextremely OPâ. Itâs no secret that Disc has scaling problems with larger group sizes.
Buffing the smite absorb is an easy thing to balance. Helps with tank healing. Buffs disc in M+ (where itâs noticably weaker after the nerfs). And has minimal impact to PvP since it can be kicked.
Seems like itâs a potentially a good buff.
Though I personally think that unless Blizzard gets away from locking significant pieces of a specs power behind specific pieces of gear (I.e. Disc having a significantly easier time in M+ with depth of shadows vs not), thereâs always gonna be major ups and downs in power level.
Then again, Iâm old school and preferred the days when your gear made you stronger, but didnât overwhelmingly affect how your class functioned.
But it doesnât? As in, for raid size 20, disc functions fine.
Raid size 30, not so much.
Thatâs precisely the scaling problem.
Theyâre better off increasing radiance targets based on raid size. Like if itâs 30, radiance hits 7 targets. 6 at 25.
Is class tuning for big heroic groups really a big deal? Seems like a waste of resources to me. I imagine the playerbase that does 30m heroic and not mythic is pretty darn small.
it is a waste of resources and largely unnecessary. Heroic is trivial content anyway.
I like doing damage in order to heal. I also really appreciate the dual nature of smite and stacking the absorb on targets setting up to do damage (warlock bolts for example) is fun, but it could be more fun and meaningful if the absorb per cast was increased (not the overall 16k? limit on the absorb from multiple casts).
Also my original suggestion of 100% is maybe a bit unrealistic. Although currently that would only mean (for my 392 ilvl) doubling a 5,461k absorb shield.
Not that OP?
Just my thoughts

A change to the mechanic of shadowmend would be nice. It always stresses me out knowing Iâm putting a DoT on my target when Iâm trying to bomb heal someone.
Shadowmend is a good spell that rewards proper usage.
Agreed I personally really like shadowmendâs design.
Something I was thinking about the other day that would be a nice change (nothing major but I think I would like it a lot more) is swapping how the âWeal and woeâ azerite trait works. I understand the original idea they were going for with the design of it, but it turned out pretty much useless.
Chances are that if you used penance defensively then itâs because you are really trying funnel single target healing into an ally so you are not going to be trying to cast smite at that point⌠While if you cast penance offensively you are likely trying to do AOE healing (or damage) so again, not really looking to interrupt that and apply a shield.
How about if instead using penance defensively gives you a big PW:Shield after (maybe it could make your next shield work as if you were under Rapture effect), that would actually be really useful to achieve the goal of keeping someone alife. Then using Penance offensively gives you a big smite after, again helping you achieve what you are trying to do (DPS and/or AOE healing).
Doesnât weal and woe last long enough for the benefits to apply regardless? (I think like 10 seconds?)
It does, but itâs mostly irrelevant at that point, which makes it one of our weakest traits. I think that simple change would turn it into one of the most desirable ones. Might also need a straight buff.
