So I’ve been pushing keys with Havoc this season (3610 IO) and honestly I think it needs a slight buff, and I think the best way to do this would be a buff to the inertia talent.
Inertia is one of the highest skill expression builds in the game right now. The momentum windows, positioning requirements, and execution demands are real barriers that filter out a large portion of players who attempt it. By buffing this talent it isn’t a free give away, it is rewarding play that takes practice and good timings to get value from.
The Exergy build would still exist as a solid on-ramp for people learning the spec, But once you graduate to Inertia the payoff should feel worth it. Right now it just doesn’t quite hit hard enough to justify the difficulty gap.
Buff the burst, keep the skill requirement. Anyone who thinks it’ll be broken is welcome to come try it themselves at a high key level and see how that goes
The current play style with inertia is easy and wouldn’t say its that difficult to use correctly.
just go dev and add +40k to your overall dmg
is what i always hear
ill do you one better
GET RID OF ANY ABILITY THAT REQUIRES MOVEMENT TO BUFF MELEE DAMAGE
how about just bake it into bladedance

i believe ops point was having inertia as a skill ceiling
which is healthy, every spec should have a skill ceiling.
movement skills like inerita are too dangerous with all the stuff on the ground that can jsut appear out of nowhere.
it has no place in this type of game unless they are willing to iframe the actions.
What other melee class has to rush in to pools of danger to buff themselves?

before they killed movers as a whole, the difference between movers and no movers was sub 5% overal dps.
it was unique and cool serving only as a way to show off spec mastery since 5% increase wouldnt make or break a fight at this point in the season
Some people like to serve unique as an excuse for uniquely punishing, which is just wrong imho.
I’m glad Inertia is this forgiving right now, but I’ll be honest, it’s like Cycle of Hatred. It’s something that at this point shouldn’t exist.
i mean thats the issue isnt it?
everytime something exists that people dont like, they want to make it “more forgiving” then theres no point to it and it should be removed.
god forbid something unique exists that you dont have to play
Oh boy, we are getting into another mover discussion, been a while
The problem is when the unique talent, with unique punishment, is so strong that playing it is the objectively correct answer
And that’s definitely the correct answer right now for Havoc, last I checked it was a 5% DPS loss. We optimize gear for 1% or less gains, not doing it for a 5% one seems completely out of this world
Now, my point is, it got neutered, to which I am very glad, but as I said, this sad version of Inertia probably doesn’t deserve to exist at all. Atp just remove both Exergy and Inertia.
The average player isn’t you
We all know that people playing havoc wrong makes them lose more dps than any build change
the problem are the encounter designs that purposefully designed to target melee, not rdps.
what developer thinks that forcing a class to potentially vault backwards and then rush forwards so they can gain a dps buff is a good thing when they code the game to detect these things and more often then not will intentionally have yhe mob spawn pools in your way?
thats poor class design
if they want that then put a damned 2 to 3 s iframe on it
