I expect tuning to happen, they always do it after the World First Race, just I didn’t know when, I was expecting February after Blizzcon, but when you said January I got super excited.
Doesn’t take more than a couple hours, renown drops for dungeon bosses and callings upon first swap. As someone who also went Ven to NF
Yep I just changed today and I’m also doing the renown grind
The only reason I would question any timeline is because ion clearly said that he and the team are happy with the way covenants are and that they don’t have any major plans to make any changes or modifications at this point…
True but I recall multiple times Ion saying something and then 1 month later they patch in something that completely contradicts his statement so anything is possible. Example titanforging getting replaced with an even worse titan forging like corruption.
Haha fair point, you never know with this dev team. One thing is for certain…I think they enjoy seeing locks suffer in misery… Lol
Buffing a spell and since soulbinds without actually significantly changing what they do wouldn’t really be missing with good covenants themselves are. It would just help some covenants be more viable. Here’s hoping…
Yeah no but good luck thinking that
Little bump with a little hope.
Just realized hashen allow (paladins) does about 1.8k every 0.8 sec in a giant aoe while healing their teammates.
IC is just 2.4k over 12 secs lol.
Blizz pls, what the hell
It’s literally a completely massive DPS loss for certain specs.
Bump, blizzard needs to stop being a bunch of lazy bones and fix this.
Bump, venthyr is so cool!
Have it extend dot timers on all targets it hits and you would have something. The pass through mechanic is not useful nor is the damage in most all cases. How long are we going to have to wait for some kind of response to covenant balancing? If I know this wasn’t going to be addressed anytime soon I would switch and just move on but I want to play Venthyr as do many locks for the theme and class fantasy aspects and would hate to throw a bunch of progress a way only to have to grind it back up 6 months from now.
I think raid balancing and raid bugs were the main focus before the holiday season. After this week we should, hopefully, start hearing some response from Blizz. I don’t fault them for letting most of their employees enjoy the holiday season.
Now come the end of January if we still have no work being done or at least a timetable for covenant balancing then it’s not acceptable at all. This is the next big area they need to focus on balancing.
Uh you realize Demonology warlocks are a thing? And we don’t use dots.
I been suggesting all through beta, Impending Catastrophe should remove the curse portion of the ability and actually focus on Shard Regen for the specs… aswell help maintain AoE…
My final post after months of feedback, in the end I switched to Necrolords a few weeks back…
I mentioned the rework as most other cov abilities synergise with the more with the class, but Venythr is the Black Sheep.
- Kyrian, 5 Shards on kill, spammable on bosses, able to be havoc.
- Necrolord, still needs a slight buff, but enhances fillers to give more a punch, great with drain soul on execution phase, burst, havoc.
- Night fae, need I say more…
- Venythr… Wow…a curse…dps loss to cast…
All DoTs apply work insane with Malefic Rapture…
My idea was to make IC, more meaningful, synergistic with the spec, if it gave Demonic Cores, hell yeah I’d cast it, but as of now it’s not worth it…
That’s why I suggested just remove the curse portion of the ability, and give it something all classes could use.
- Afflic, could apply Agony, helps with Soul Shard generation.
- Destro, Immolate, helps with Soul Shard generation.
- Demo, Demonic Cores, Helps with Soul Shards generation.
Literally a change like this isn’t probably still not make it a must pick like Night Fae, but actually all specs benifiting from casting it actually helps…
Please Blizzard, consider this, make Impending Catastrophe worth with the specs more synergistic… it be a positive change in the right direction without being overpowering.
Demonology main, went Venythr as I love the aesthetics and covenant, but hate that I have a useless covenant ability…
Curses are great for the Warlock theme, but tying it to a covenant ability I think is a wrong step in the right direction…
I do have hope changes will come, I do have hope Venythr Impending Catastrophe will be tuned and made more relevant, just I hope sooner then later incase people what to change Covenants and with Raid coming out.
Affliction needs help with DoT maintenance, this helps, Destruction has another way to maintain Immolate AoE, Demonology we need Demonic Cores for mobility and helps shard regen this helps.
Did they listen. No
Bump since we still haven’t had any tuning with this ability.
There won’t be any major covenant changes. If they do all the hardcore raider will QQ and this expansion is all about them. Ion specifically said there won’t be any major covenant abilities changes coz people spend a long time unlocking it. You might some bad covenant getting a slight buff that’s it though.
They also said they would never implement mob scaling, then did it without warning. What Ion says and what Ion does are two different things.
I am hopeful they balance the numbers, I think the covenant identities are great!
Bump.
over 70% of warlocks are going NF, because other covenants are just not up to par, especially venthyr.
Common blizz. I’m about to convert as well after I get the cosmetics I want.
