I was talking to Bloomsday, not you. Unless you’re rping as bloomsday. I dunno at this point, I have another thread where ret paladins are complaining about Arcane Mage, so my mental is a bit scattered.
Well it’s a bit more complicated then that. Yeah, I know Warlock has issues in M+, but no one really cares about M+ progression in this expac because it’s irrelevant.
Game seems to be balanced solely around the raid, and in the raid Warlock is doing really really well.
DK shuts down casters already. They don’t need any buffs. The only thing they have trouble with is melee cleaves. Which all casters already have a problem with. For DK to be strong their just needs to be more viable casters.
Lock, Hunter, and DH are hands down the 3 worst classes right now.
Their intended primary defensive mechanic is kiting, but 60% of their damage is tied to a 2.5 second hard cast. So you can’t really kite and do damage. Meaning eventually when the melee connects, because you can’t kill them and your CDs run out, they just kill you.
Their burst damage is tied to a 3-6 GCD set up, part of which can be dispelled, thus is easily countered.
Their damage is a pretty fair bit behind other classes (Where other classes can pretty easily do 30k+, Hunter’s struggle to even hit 30k).
Their CC requires them to be nearly in melee range to land reliably. Or set-up that no other class really requires.
but every other abilitiy outside of aimed shot it castable while moving… not to mention their extensive amount of kiting abilities, in the form of a spammable concussive shot, traps, etc.
Concussive isn’t spammable (6 sec duration and CD. It’s on GCD so eats up our damage), our slow trap is tiny and 50% slow. Which most the time you have to use on the healer to bait before you trap.
Disengage is 20 second CD, compared to every melee has a minimum of two gap closers.
Bursting shot is one of the most unreliable and garbage knock backs that has a tiny cone, doesn’t elevate the target and literally fails many times due to even minor positioning changes.
Hunters just suffer from bad design that leads us to either do oppressive damage or be low tier. Our damage is all front loaded and CD stacking, which is the same reason why people hate fire mages. We are just a significantly worse fire mage.
DH just needs defensive buffs such as being able to darkness or nether during stuns would be nice, and/or a DH version of IP.
Damage is reaching a good spot and is almost there (1 more 3% would be perfect) but being 100% dead after you trinket and having to run away from every cleave as a melee is not enjoyable.
Going from being the tankiest melee/class in the game to the squishiest, then having to run more than 50% of the game and not able to heal themselves like WW can feels terrible. The entire kit is meant to box with other melee and heal yourself by doing damage but that whole aspect of Dh has been removed from the game, and was not replaced by anything.
its cd is 5 secs though, so it can keep someone at 50% speed forever.
its also aoe though which makes up for it i think.
but there are talents which make it really strong, like posthaste which is really strong.
it isnt always easy to use, but that doesnt mean its not powerful. it is very powerful used under the right circumstances. it also has a baked in 50% slow that’s also aoe.
Nice backpedal. You were still wrong and most of your arguments are based on hypotheticals and precision use of a otherwise pretty bad kit.
Ah yes, you “think”, you’re not sure? Want to bring any more of your “wisdom” to the conversation?
Right its been nerfed 2-3 times since WoD, lost duration, speed bonus, etc. It is now at the point that it is so mandatory if we didn’t take this we would have zero mobility. Though almost every melee in the game now has a ranged way to slow you.
It has nothing to do with being hard to use, it is that there are many circumstances where it literally just doesn’t work. Uneven terrain it does zero knock back, unlike ele thunder storm or boomy typhoon. Any lag between hunter and target can cause it to show a visual hit and a server miss. It is unreliable, every time you use “under the right circumstances” is just a copout for “I know it is bad and I won’t let you win that argument”.
Look at the end of the day, you try to be the troll that has “logic” and “thought” put into their arguments, but in reality it is all garbage. Anyway, been good fake bloomsday.
Incorrect, sorry you said it yourself you don’t want to get into semantics. Anyway, if anything you said were true that means hunters would be at least viable for tournament play. You know the best players that can leverage such a nuanced kit.
I can already see your reply: tournament players are not drawn to the story and theme of hunters… or that no hunter main is good enough to leverage its kit to its full potential. Please I would like to know your argument as to the practical reason why hunters are both underrepresented at the top of the ladder and in tournaments.
Bloomsday is just a full troll guys. The fact that jellybeans, best hunter in the world, is rerolling arms/ele because hunters are not viable is enough for us to understand in what spot hunters are.
that isnt an issue of semantics, you’re quite literally trying to alter the meaning of my statements…
what makes you think hunters arent viable in tournament play? even if that were true, the game isnt balanced around tournament play. just because something isnt played often at the highest level of competition that the game offers doesnt mean that it’s bad. you have to remember that tournament players are adept at playing anything so they’re always going to default to the absolute best spec at a given time, even if its only better than other specs by 0.1%.
that doesnt mean hunters are bad or not viable , it just means they’re not the best.
there could be many reasons for this. many factors go into the play rate of specs. the point is, we cant say that the only reason a class isnt played at high levels is because it isnt good. so using lack of hunter representation as evidence of hunters being weak is a fallacious statement in those regards.
this might be my last response to you in this thread at least, i get the sense that we are going in circles here.
