Buff heroic dungeons

I’m not saying that group of people doesn’t exist. It may even be a larger portion of the player base than I estimate, but I’m not advocating for a big enough increase to push anyone out. At least I don’t think I am. I haven’t seen anyone say the jump from N to H is too hard for them yet…

That depends: are you running the M0 with your friends or randos?

/s

randoms 100%. I just make groups and inv whoever comes. Sometimes the runs go really slow w/ a tank who seems like they RP pull, other times we speed.

I PUG everything, even M+ on my main. I don’t have a set team. I usually don’t raid w/ my guild either cuz of my work, so most my prog from xpac is PUG.

If you’re as elite as you claim it’s hard to believe your alts are that low ilvl.

Who cares? This happens relatively often because

  • Tank outran slower classes and casters have poor damage while moving so higher DPS uptime
  • Tank pulls to suit their own damage profile and cooldowns
  • Other roles lose a lot more DPS dealing with mechanics if you pull big or pull trash onto bosses

Of poor player skill. End of story.

  • Slower/Casters have considerably higher damage output than tanks of relative gear levels
  • Regardless of how a tank pulls, DPS by their nature are designed to do more damage
  • You do realize tanks have to deal with mechanics the same as DPS right? This is a fallacy

It depends on the situation; the game is not balanced around heroics. DPS specs are generally more target-capped than tanks (Thunderous Roar does insane damage in big pulls), and the ones that should outdo tanks in big pulls aren’t necessarily talented or geared for it, or they used their cooldowns on an earlier pull not knowing you were going to do a bigger pull after. Some specs also suck when the enemies die fast (like Shadow Priest struggles if Shadow Crash is not off cooldown for the next pack, or Destruction Warlock sucks if they can’t get big value out of Infernal).

Tank damage is designed around being played more defensively; Prot Warrior does significantly more damage if they can spend rage on Revenge and Execute instead of Ignore Pain and Shield Block. Some of the healers have a similar design flaw, especially Holy Priest.

Tank mechanic = move the enemy (while still in attack range) or press an off-GCD defensive or interrupt or get aggro on adds. Occasionally they have to move out of attack range. This does not hurt your dps like having to cancel a cast to move (and hopefully have a decent instant cast to use while moving) or having your cast cancelled by a knockback or pull effect. They’re not canceling a cast every time, but on average mechanics hurt caster dps more.

I forgot one other thing: DPS in heroics are usually not trying to be top overall damage; you’re comparing yourself to people who aren’t competing. If they’re trying to be top damage at all, it’s top damage on bosses, so they’re often not using cooldowns on trash packs. That’s different priorities, not a skill issue.

Yes there are bad players in heroics, but lower overall damage than the tank does not mean they are bad.

And my situation was that I couldn’t pull to my benefit due to a lackluster group. Even if I do get a big pull for every Dragon Roar, DPS damage is scaled to do better than me in every other scenario, meaning I shouldn’t have been topping the meters.

Sure, and again, their damage scaling more than make up me having 100% uptime on a boss and them having to cancel 4 casts during the encounter.

The heck are you talking about. Every DPS is trying to be the best they can be. Or should be.

Eh…agree to disagree.
