Captain Garrick barely takes any damage compared to Tank Brann, throw an Earthshield or Lifebloom on her and you’re done.
Normally, I’m not one to complain about difficulty, but I’m also asking for Follower Dungeons to be better for leveling, and if I want the XP to be comparable to a timewalking tank grabbing everything up to a boss in one pull, then it wouldn’t be reasonable to ask for that without offering some concessions with regards to how simple these runs are.
Maybe selectable modes, so people who are using this to “see the story” (very true with Gallywix, less so with people running Dragonflight dungeons in 2025) can still get the easiest ride possible.
Follower dungeons allow you to run the dungeons solo. They don’t come with a random queue bonus because you aren’t using the random dungeon finder, so it’s extremely unlikely that they would ever be as efficient.
That’s the status quo, I am petitioning for a change to the status quo.
There’s several ways to buff XP:
Make Follower dungeons randomizable so they get a completion bonus
Better door quest rewards (right now DF dungeon quests reward about the same amount of XP from an open world leveling quest, like something that’d take you 30 seconds to do in Redridge)
Aura buff to mob XP so you’re not incentivized to choose the fastest boss gauntlet.
Big scenario objective XP like you got in dungeons during MoP.
Okay maybe it shouldn’t be as good as timewalking but it shouldn’t be worse than running Redridge for the 1000th time.
What I do is use Delves for leveling and access to the Great Vault. Follower Dungeons are little more than Story Mode Raids. They basically give the solo players a chance to see the part of the story which exists in that content.
The reason “random” dungeons award a bonus is because they can stick people in the random queue into other people’s specific dungeon runs. That way people running specific dungeons for quests can get team members without having to wait for another whole party to want to run that dungeon specifically.
Choosing a random follower dungeon doesn’t help anyone, so there wouldn’t be a bonus for it.
Not really going to entertain these arguments as to why Blizzard won’t do it. I’m here to discuss what ought to be, not what is. They made the Follower AI for old content, they should give people a reason to use it other than “the heckin’ STORY”
“the heckin’ STORY” is one of the main things that attracts me to WoW.
Sure it would be great if they expanded Follower Dungeons by adding higher level tires. I’d like to see it but not if it meant there would no longer be Delves.
