I know right

“You can want in one hand, and @@#$ in the other; see which one gets buffed first.”
~old man bear

Same guy told me that pigs are flying (mount), and Blizzard froze over? Silly old man…

I would settle for 4 things. Slight increase in single target damage, aoe damage is pretty good right now. Ability to decurse/cleanse in bear and frenzied regeneration buff (take off global cooldown and reduce cooldown from 36 seconds to 24 sec or 30 seconds with 3rd charge) and last a slow with thrash maybe 15% stacking 2 or 3 times.

A Decent AOE Taunt would help a lot too.

It’s called thrash :bear:

Actually, it was called Challenging Roar. Like most things bears are asking for, it’s something that we HAD but don’t anymore. :bear:

lol, or at least an AoE fixate - which imo made it more interesting to use than a straight up taunt.

Not sure I miss it quite as much as RotS, or my thrash-snare (so long as I remembered not to tag Aggramar’s damn adds with it!)

Or even Pawsitive Outlook, for fun value of the occasional ridiculous proc.

Quit taking our damn stuff Blizzard!

I would enjoy a buff but deep down i really want to use more than 3 buttons.

Legion has so many great passives and spells that bears feel bad in BFA, and will probably never recover until the next expansion.

Man im lvling a guradian right now and am enjoying it

You actually think it will take that long tongets changes or buffs? You have no hope for whatever upcoming azerite changes are coming?

I love bears! Make it happen.

I’d settle for these five things; 1.) remove the rage cost from Maul, double the damage, and add a five second cool down to the ability, 2.) Frenzied Regen now heals for 20% of base health while also adding ten percent of damage taken in the last five seconds to the heal, 3). give us back Challenging Roar, 4.) add Snaring Roar, an instant 50% AOE snare off the gcd that lasts for 6 seconds on a 10 second cool down, and 5.) replace Lunar Beam with a Guardian version of Vampiric Blood.

i just returned to the game and wanted to see how bears were fairing before gearing it up… I do have 120 druid/monk/paladin/warrior so right now I’m thinking for tanking I might end up having to do warrior with what people are saying about bears…

But, here’s what I think should happen.
1) Maul seems counterintuitive even with the azerite traits to make it do tanky stuff. As of right now with no azerite traits, it’s not for tanking, so why is it there? Oh, it’s a rage dump for extra damage… okay. That won’t help pushing M+ keys.
Fix suggestion 1: take it off the GCD, reduce it’s damage and rage cost and simply make it a CD for extra single target damage.
2: Take it off GCD, keep the rage cost, but add in some tanking mechanic such as ‘place a debuff on target that reduces its next damage by x amount’ or ‘makes your next mangle heal by x%’ so that way they’d have a reason to use it while their health is high or at least give them some sustain.

Nature’s swiftness This should come back so that we can cast regrowth in. Again, the self sustaining aspect that other tanks get that bear lack.

any crowd control I saw something about giving bear’s ursol’s vortex, but this would help m+ quite a bit. I know bears have a lot of raid utility in things like Stampeding roar, but that won’t help much in M+ where there’s not a lot of opportunities to use it where you need CC to more reliably kill trash.

I think that’s about it. I’ve seen people beg for magic mitigation but to be honest, the extra health and self sustain would pretty much solve that. Sure you won’t take less damage, but you get extra time to recover from it.

Just a couple points about your post:

It helps some, but again it’s niche.

What makes it worse is the fact it competes with Wild Charge which is also equally important. There are situations where Reaping adds can’t be grouped up because there isn’t always something to LoS mobs around in certain dungeons; so being able to charge and interrupt them when they’re outside of Skull Bash range is also important.

Wild Charge should be made baseline and another equally niche talent placed in Tier 2 that makes far more logical sense to compete with Vortex.

I don’t see Roar and CC being mutually exclusive. There are a number of use cases where using Stampeding Roar is extremely beneficial in M+ such as creating a gap between you and the mobs while your dps snare them so you minimize damage taken.

Roar is also helpful to expedite the group’s movement between pulls in M+ where there is gaps. There are quite a number of useful spots for this almost every dungeon.
