  • Please increase arcane missile coefficient to 34% (up from 30%) so its equal to fire/frost dps.

Arcane missiles already has a 100% coefficient.

How about they nerf fire and frost so its more equal to arcane?

Nerfs you say? Now that’s the Ol’ Blizzard I know and love.

Incorrect, Missiles gain 30% coefficient, split by each wave @ 20% per a wave, over 5 waves per a channel.

Arcane missiles themselves have 52.6 more dps per a channel, however this is problematic with high mana costs and constant need to move.

Blizzard buffing the coefficient to 34-35% Would place AM in a near-equal level to Frostbolt/fireball spam. Fire scales way better then arcane/frost, and frost has the critical strike buff later tier that makes it more competitive. Nerfing the talent to be “self crit buff” instead of group wide to all frost will force frost mages to drop deep arcane for full frost builds, which will shift them into a more onpar state to arcane, however, that will just leave fire in an even more solidified lead position (as after the current fire raids, you will see just how broken it is).

Another solution to this is for blizzard to add 2 more ranks of arcane missiles, one which they end up doing in aq. They could add the aq one now, and then create another for when aq releases.

This should in theory help arcane more, though it will still suffer from the same issues it has with needing excellent positioning (that could be solved with breaking noChange rule and adding some “can move while channeling” in.

If your arcane missiles do 500 damage over the duration of the spell, then you add 400 spell power, you now do 900 damage over the duration of the spell.

100% coefficient.

No, It is 30% coefficient, with 100% of that value applied at 20% per a volley.

Please dont talk about mage unless you know it, bro.

There is no such spell as Arcane Missile Volley. Arcane Missiles is a channelled spell and behaves exactly like other channelled spell when it comes to spell coefficients. You seem to want a custom spell added to the game to accomodate your specific wishes. Not ever going to happen.

Please do not argue with Nougat. He once applied for an office assistant job at a company developing phone games.

These are accurate as far as I know, they’ve been tested in Classic and always seem to match:

List of Spell-Coefficients 1.12.1

Arcane Missiles - 3.5/3.5 - 100% - 20% per missile (5)

You get 100% spell coefficient over the whole cast. So if you use rank 7:

Spell Damage DPS Total
0 196 980
100 216 1080
200 236 1180
300 256 1280
400 276 1380

This is pretty similar to how other DOT or channeled spells work.

Now, the strange thing is that it’s a channeled spell and normally channeled spells have a coefficient of:

coefficient = channel time / 15 seconds

That means Arcane Missiles should have a coefficient of:

coefficient = 5 / 15 = 33.3% (repeating, of course)
per missile = 33.3% / 5 = 6.7%

So thank your lucky stars they didn’t go with that standard!

These values are not accurate.
Try to come up with something more then just a quick google on coefficients.

Ironically, the same (quick google) will also yield you info that the missiles are @ 30 % coefficient right now.

Oooo I know how this goes!

Yes, they are.

Your turn.

No, they are not. My mommy told me so to!

Just use frost bolt like a good mage, or do less damage.

Mages certainly need a buff they are the weakest class in vanilla.

This wouldn’t make it equal, not even close. Arcane gets no talents to modify arcane damage critical strikes the way Fire and Frost do. Frost gets the standard 200% from Ice Shards, but Fire gets even more out of Ignite, since it is baseline 150% + (150% * 40%) = 210%. Further, Ignite gets the benefit of debuffs like Improved Scorch and Curse of Elements, meaning Ignite damage double-dips.

Arcane can only achieve 200% critical strike status with the ZG trinket, that’s it, once every 3 minutes for 20 seconds, and that is still not enough because the Arcane school lacks a second Arcane specific debuff. This is the same scaling problem Balance Druids have, there simply isn’t any Arcane specific debuffs outside of Curse of Shadow, unlike Fire getting Improved Scorch, Frost getting Winter’s Chill, and Shadow getting Improved Shadow Bolt and Shadow Weaving.

Arcane needs a massive change… so not only are you showing how little you know about any of this… you’re not going to see a massive redesign of Arcane or Arcane Missiles to achieve it.

Go away.

Not a damn thing wrong with nerfs

-cough- Classic+ -cough-

Honestly, though. Blizzard didn’t do a very good job of balancing classes in vanilla, and it shows.
