Budget laptop for classic WoW

Looking to buy a budget laptop for classic WoW while I am traveling for work. I prefer to stay under $500 if its possible. I know the game is ancient compared to today’s standards but I don’t know what Blizz is doing on their end to make it more modernized for current day consumers. Can I get 60fps @ 1080p with settings maxed with just a standard integrated graphic card or do I need a laptop with atleast a gtx 1050 in it in order to acheive reliable performance?

For 500$ I’m not sure you can play on top end settings

It’s going to be running in at least a Legion-based engine, and possibly a BfA-based engine. Keep that in mind. Doesn’t mean you need a gaming computer necessarily, but it might mean that for under $500 you won’t get to run it on the highest settings.

Especially as a laptop. Laptops usually aren’t as powerful as pc

Take a look into Lenovo’s Y series laptop line

Does anyone know if there is a portable option no larger than a switch? I really need to be able to play in any sort of tactical situation like on the can. Win gdp 2 seems too clunky. And no I don’t have a gaming phone.

Seriously?

I’ll add, OP, to stay far away from any computer with AMD graphics, which don’t play nice with Blizzard games. Personal experience here on that one.

I would stay away from anything with integrated grfx. Though I ask why a laptop? if you don’t need the portability and it’s just going to sit on the same desk/table all the time your just throwing money away to gain the compact size that couild otherwise be used on more performance.

He specifically said he was going to use it for travelling while working.

classic will still probably have lower gfx requirements, but we cant give an exact answer until blizzard releases the specs

i imagine the processor and ram requirements will be close to or maybe the same as bfa though

Sorry missed that. More accurately it was his first line of text and forgot it when I was reading all the replies.

Did the classic demo force DX12? That is also an important factor.

That’s an interesting question. Since it was running in 7.3.5 I would assume ‘no’, but I did not check.

I would look at the minimum reqs for bfa, compare that to the best laptop you can get in budget. Then I would do nothing for 6 months since the longer you wait the more you’ll get for your money.

the hardware requirements back then to now is just astronomical.

But i imagine greatly that anything that meats BFA requirements will run the game fine. An intel HD 520 and anything higher should be fine. if u have something kicken around for memories from 2004-2006 it will only run the game if it has a 64-bit supported cpu (witch alot do, and alot don’t) It’s like a scooter trying to race a corvette in difference, we only just removed DX9 with BFA, and were running on 11. This won’t be the original client it will be a BFA client with all it’s textures and graphical enhancements over the years, albeit maybe a little less demanding then say The Broken isles, or Kul tiras/Zandalar, nevertheless it will still be much more demanding then 1.12 goldshire. I don’t expect a 1.3ghz Pentium 4 will be able to launch the game (do to lack of 64-bit support) and if it did, it won’t play very well.

but you don’t have to worry about that with any modern laptop, even a budget one. You get yourself a 400$ i3 with a intel hd 620 and the game will still probly run at 720 on low/med sets just fine.

 cheers

Lol what? Wow has always been designed yo play on a potato comparatively

hmm but what if i want to eat the potatoes?

I had an MSI gaming laptop for years. Im sure you would be able to pick up one with a 980m for around $500 and you should be able to run the game without any issues.

980m for 500$? dam.
That would still be overkill…but for that price.
go for it.
