Brutal haste loss for Ret

Feels like we lost around 4 to 5% haste, it feels bad…

Because we did. Just a straight up haste loss, no questions asked.

The haste talent seemed to have a weird mechanic behind where it was more than just a flat 4%.

And whilst the 10% CD reduction on builders from seal of order was added baseline for Prot, it wasn’t for Ret. (At least i don’t think so, it’s not mentioned in the notes)

So it does feel significantly slower now.

Yeah, everything is so off right now. I don’t even know how to explain it.

It just goes to show how jacked up on baseline stats Paladin was.

At the very least reducing the CD of builders by the 10% of seal of order could alleviate this just a notch.

It feels much more sluggish than before.

At the same time, you need to actually care about your procs and abilities that are available at any given time to keep it smooth so, I don’t know.

Agreed on all accounts.

Other than some future tuning, I’m hoping that our excellent scaling will eventually even itself out on what we just lost (again, one can only hope).

Although I have no inside knowledge whatsoever, perhaps this is Blizzard’s thinking for the future since we received no immediate compensation for our loss, considering Blizzard probably has access to inside metrics we have no idea about.

Is it worth while moving to Templar Strikes now?

I rather still stay crusader strike lol

Probably not for pve. The Templar Strikes build uses one charge of BoJ and doesn’t take Zealot’s Fervor (less Art of War procs). With ret’s current tier set boosting BoJ damage it is unlikely that TS will do anywhere close to the same damage as CSAA with Zealot’s Fervor plus the extra BoJ damage from two charges and more AoW procs.

tehcnically. ts is stronger. just feels like auto immune disorder

All i can say is prior to the patch on tuesday i spent about 100 runed crests cranking up my gear from 613- 618 ilvl and even spent 30 gilded runes getting my weapon from 619-626.

and then i logged in and did 500kdps less than before the upgrades- with a clunky rotation that feels like i just hit max level.

Feels bad.

I think this should happen:

  1. Solar Grace (Herald talent) increases haste by 3% per stack, up from 2.
  2. Swift Justice and Light of Justice (Ret talents) are combined into one talent that reduces the cooldowns of CS, Judgment, and BoJ by 2 sec.

Templar already got a haste buff a couple weeks ago. The first suggestion would help Herald catch up to that and perhaps catch up a bit on the DPS meters as well.

The second suggestion would help make up for the loss of Seal of Order. Ret can run into gaps now in the ST rotation that feel really bad. Please, Blizz, don’t try to force us into Templar Strikes. I like Crusading Strikes and don’t like gaps in the rotation.

Or just bring back Seal of Alacrity or even Relentless Inquisitor as passives, no idea why Rush of Light is actually not just Relentless Inquisitor, 5% haste on only TV/FV crits is actually lame.

The haste nerf is much bigger than the 6% dps loss imo

Undisputed Ruling (Templar): 15% Haste
Rush of Light: 5%
Crusade: 30%
Gear: X%

I sim my pvp gear to have little to no haste, we have plenty of modifiers that give haste not including buffs given by other classes like PI.

With the 3 talents I listed above is 50% haste with a 50%-80% uptime in most scenarios.

Losing the talent does suck and I would trade it for things like Lightforged Blessing or Holy Ritual :face_vomiting: but we are fine.

The new Tree is movement in the right direction just needs a few number increases to make some more vaible.

My Ret Paly rotation feels sluggish now. The lost of haste feels really bad.

Should I be increasing the haste with gears now to try to compensate the loss of haste ?

If you value gameplay more than dps, you should do that.
Else sim your character and increase whatever it says it’s top for you.

I’ve sacrificed dps for gameplay in the past, you won’t feel it in dps terms, but you’ll feel better playing.

Templar FEELS worse, but I definitely haven’t noticed a major dps loss. I’m still cooking.

Those are all great, every 30s, any time else, spec feels like a slug and I don’t really feel like redoing my gear mid tier. Overall the tree is fine, but I would like my passive haste bonuses back that Ret has had for a long time.
