Per store, any qualifying World of Warcraft purchase earns the code. As far as my browsing it seems that all items, even the under $20 ones get the code.
One caveat, per the email I got confirming my tumbler purchase, the code for the pet will not be delivered until 5 days after the order…
It has to be a purchase from the Gear Store. I bought a magnet and they said they would send the code in five days.
Its like the Ring movies…

I noticed that too S. I placed my order on Sunday but apparently they mean 5 days from their Thank You email. I had hoped the shipping message would trigger the code being sent but nooooooooo
