Why is BT still the only pet with a 1.0?
Like, just as a QoL / Customization point, why not let us have another pet with 1.0?

I think it’s really rare that any parse monkeys or pvpers even bother with BT as opposed to a 1.2 for range.
In PVP most casts are instant/bubbled or your pet will get rocked. Maybe in 1v1 duels the spell pushback might help but thats generally about it.
I guess now with bg changes it might ‘technically help’ but pets do not have the DR changes during this test in pvp, so they die in 2 hits.
As a discussion in the hunter discord for people simming ranged dps:
'Fast attack speed pets only benefit if tank is using gift of arthas, and even then, the dps difference is not signifiant"
I do think it’s a bit weird they didn’t just make the bird 1.0, but BT is really overhyped.

nah. go camp broken tooth like every hunter before you. you want the 1.0 boy go out there pitch a tent and camp him. took me a week. numerous battles with horde and shady alliances with ally hunter to get him. one of the best parts of classic hunter.

I kill him on sight for the 13 silver he is a rare spawn after all one of these times he might drop something really cool.

In Cataclysm rare spawn times are 85% less. Sounds like someone I know will be rollin a worgen soon.

you can get rank 14 and parse 99’s very easily without Brokentooth.
By that logic people wouldn’t be min/maxing gear for bis lists and what not. BT is BIS for pvp according to a lot of people.
IMO the R5 lighting bolt serpent is probably better for world pvp and sod in general tbh with all the insta gib damage going on.
I kill pets in bgs all the time in team fights just to peel healers and they seem to die relatively easy.
The serpent is easier to send, damage, and pull back without it dying
The issue is that right now you have to do the solo invisi pot run in ST to get the serpent if you don’t raid. There is also another rare in feralas but it has an 8 hour spawn timer and there are TONS of bots in that area skinning

As someone said above- BT is overrated. You can get the rake in mulgore and it is very fast- check classic petopia. for pvp you might want faster but for pve you will want slower harder hitting.
There are other cats I believe at higher levels with 1.2 speed. After doing some testing the R5 lighting serpent appears to be better overall for sods spastic 1 shot fest
