I found an item called a Broken Axe Blade that starts a quest. Part of the description is that it requires blacksmithing in order to start the quest. Even though I have blacksmithing as one of my professions on the character, I get an error message that says “you don’t meet the requirements for that quest.” Can anyone help?
I went to Dalaran and learned the classic blacksmithing but it STILL says the same thing, also after I picked up the profession you’re to get a quest from Alard Schmied
called ’ A Familiar Axe to Grind ’ but that’s not even popping up either, he has no ! marker over his head at all.
I just don’t know what to do and I’m so lost… Can some please provide ANY ideas I will try them all.
According to wowhead comments, it looks like there are some requirements to start this quest: being at legion level (45 I think? Looks like you are 46, so that should be good.); and having Legion Blacksmithing.
You don’t obtain Legion Blacksmithing by just learning it from a trainer; rather, you complete a quest for it called “Strange New Ores”, given by Alard Schmied.
So I would check if he does offer “Strange New Ores” to you, or check your quest log to see if you have that quest there, and complete it. On completion, you will learn Legion Blacksmithing and should be able to turn in your [Broken Axe Blade].
It also looks like the [Broken Axe Blade] is actually turned in to Hoddruc Bladebender at Chiselgrip, in Burning Steppes. That turn-in quest is called " A Familiar Axe to Grind" and its follow-up quest is “Worth Its Weight in Steel”.
Some links for you:
Thank you for the replay I did do all this as I already stated in the post, I also did try to show the axe to Hoddruc but he didn’t seem to care I clicked him and it just opens a store so I also tried to drag the axe onto his person and nothing happens so that’s why I just went to Alard because many guides online say to just learn blacksmithing from him and the quest should start
Hope you have this resolved by now. If not, have you leveled up that expansion bs profession? Some items/quest triggers still require a certain skill level. Food for thought.
I should be the required level which some guides say is level 45 but I’ve seen others say it’s level 100 so I’m not really sure which is the real answer
