we get a branch, we have to select the ancestors and use the branch … but first we have to get them below 50% health,
that’s impossible for overlevel

Try hitting them with a foam sword. Then using the Branch of the Runewood.
If you have a NPC helper like Archmage Modera at the time, it gets more tricky. Try to sneak up on the spirit sideways so you’re between the NPC and the Spirit. Target the Spirit with Tab, then inch closer till your Foam Sword quits showing the red dot (too far away to use). Then hit them. By the time it takes to take a careful swing, the NPC hasn’t triggered to attack it, and the Spirit hasn’t attacked the NPC and you can quickly use the branch as soon as your Foam Sword knocks them down, before the NPC can attack the spirit.
I did this with my DK level 70 with full gear on. All you need to do is let the ancestor hit you once then they will drop to 5%, use the branch before they hit you again (the will try but will miss the hit then you’ll have the opportunity to use the branch).
