"Bringing Back" the Swift Zulian Tiger / Swift Razzashi Raptor

Hey everyone,

I’ve observed many posts asking to bring the old ZG mounts back (aside from the BMAH). I myself am a proponent of this. However, given the developers have already done a small revamp to ZG, I suspect the ZG tiger and raptor will never be reintroduced as drops.

Instead, I think the most reasonable path, based on the way many rare removed items have been returned, is to make the tiger and raptor craftable Leatherworking mounts. I say Leatherworking because, historically, Leatherworkers have made animal mounts of similar sizes.

Let’s focus on the tiger recipe for now. The recipe would require significant effort to acquire for the Leatherworker. Based on how T3 is being handled, I suspect such a recipe would only be learnable by those who have the ZG tiger already, and that’s fine in my view, although I have the mount, so I’m a little biased there.
The mats to craft the mount would also require significant effort to acquire, including a gold barrier.

The acquisition of items needed to “craft” T3 is costly and generally exceeds the cost of BMAH’s typical pricing. The BMAH price of a tiger is a gold cap (9,999,999) every time. It would be reasonable to initially say, “make the tiger mats cost gold cap,” to remain broadly consistent with how T3 works. That line of thinking, to an extent, is fine in my view, but I think lowering the gold barrier to 5 million would be more reasonable, especially if it’s coupled with more effort, to make it more accessible.

The tiger would be a BoP item and would only be craftable by a Leatherworker who has the tiger (this can be tracked by the achievement, consistent with T3 reagants being craftable by those with DDG) through a crafting order. The buyer would have to supply the mats.

Finally, the same concept/logic can be applied to the raptor as well. The only significant difference would be the cost of the gold barrier since it tends to go for only a few million.

Is this the most player-friendly method to reintroducing these mounts? Not exactly. Would it be consistent with T3? Yes. Would players have a much better shot at obtaining the mounts than messing around with the BMAH? Definitely. Is something like this far more likely than the reintroduction of the mounts through a drop? I very much believe so given the philosophy, which is why I’m posting this.

I know there will be disagreement, and that’s expected since it’s a forum. Still, given the trend, I think this is something that would align with the current philosophy while making the mounts (especially the tiger) accessible to those who can’t sit with gold caps at BMAHs when they reset at 230AM each morning.

*P.S.: I’m well aware the raptor typically goes for far below the cap on the BMAH and is, therefore, much more accessible currently. I include the raptor in this discussion because it wouldn’t make sense, in my view, to bring one mount back as a crafted item but not the other.

I think any leatherworker should be able to craft the mounts. Not just swift zulian tiger owners. But that Is just me.

Either way would be fine with me. I think Blizzard would be more amenable to the “bring back” suggestion if crafting was restricted to current tiger owners, but if ultimately any LW could do it, that’d be fine with me too.

I think the recipe to craft it should be a low drop chance though. Kind of like that one engineer mount from motherlode instance off last boss.

And it is still more affordable than the zulian tiger is off BMAH. I think the Zulian tiger would still be expensive here. But make the leatherworking zulian tiger and razasshi raptor leatherworking paterns drop at like 1-200 drop rate. So it is only bound to show up once every 200 runs or so of the instance.

It would give a reason for leatherworkers to run the instance. And give me a reason to pay a leatherworker to craft the mount.

I dunno anymore. I just want to get the mount again at this point. And I still can’t see my broke self being able to get it from a leather worker.

Well, I had a clear goal lol. Way back when. Then blizz was like, nah. We deleting that thing from the game. Possibly forever.

Yah thanks blizzard. My goal that I set in bc was kind of taken away from me. And I am not going to redesign my goals around a new way of obtaining it either. Give me back my old way of trying to get it. It was way more fun to try and achieve my goal that way. Way cooler than trying to cough up a trillion gold capp for the BMAH.

Introduce a higher resolution tiger. Somewhere along the lines of the Mystic Runesabre and those who got the original Vanilla era Zulian Tiger can have their super rare mount to themselves.

I’m not at all against bringing back discontinued mounts, but I think all the vanilla mounts could use an upgrade.

I think this would be fair. I am thinking of that snarling frostwolf from the anniversary event.

But make it permanent. So that we could endlessly farm it. I would be cool with that to. I honestly still want the original.

They shouldn’t have deleted anything like this from the game in the first place in my OP. Like we keep telling blizz what isn’t really all that great about the game, and removing stuff like this is one of those things. Especially with the way they added it back in. Like I HATE the BMAH. Worst system ever made in the game.

I swear adding back the old content would be the most anticipated and exciting parts about a new wow expansion for me.

There should be a bronze drake in front of the “new” ZG that lets you queue up for the original.

Then we can farm it as normal.

Content should never be removed.

I don’t think it would either. If anything, they’ll probably do it as one of their dumb twitch drop promotions but I wouldn’t care either way since all those mounts would mean to me is literally just a +1 as far as I’d care but the potential entertainment from special snowflake crybabies is exciting to think about.

I like to imagine them stamping their little feeties and hurting their hands smacking their desks as they cry and wail…or like one of those extreme rage videos where someone is making an absolute fool of themselves and destroying their equipment and/or room.

No. It would be a sad state for something so cool to be reintroduced by such a simple method. IMO, it should come back as a recolor. Maybe as a TW dungeon and it could have a small % drop.

I just hate the idea of everything coming back because then things lose their meaning. I’m speaking as somebody who has some things and missed out on others. So, I can see both sides.

that seems to be restricted to TCG stuff more than any thing really. i also doubt it’ll be in the trading post, as it tends to be stuff that you used to get from the store, or reskinned/colored stuff that’s not obtainable any more.

I don’t understand your position. It’d be sad for something to be as difficult to obtain as T3? How is that “such a simple method” as you put it?

There best thing about precedent is that it is made to be broken.

It’s far more likely though for something that well known, it’d likely be some kind of quietly implemented thing the secret finding community will datamine and eventually track down. Like some secretly added perma-stealthed tiger you can only find in the jungle exactly 12 minutes after a rainstorm which triggers a dialog option for an otherwise inactive NPC who mysteriously had datamined text 5 patches ago and ended up being forgotten and/or dismissed as a weird bug but secretly leads to a series of events leading to a procedurally generated URL where upon visiting this temporary web page you can enter your information which gifts the tiger to your collection.

It’ll still be datamined and figured out in hours.

“Run a raid and kill a raid boss for a chance at a rare mount.” vs “farm these mats and slap em’ together for this rare mount” The profession route seems subpar for something you used to be able to get by doing a raid.

Maybe if they turned it into a rare quest item drop that leads you on a difficult quest chain (similar to the artifact weapons) but longer. That would be kind of neat. I still don’t think they should return the retired colors, but creating new ones would be neat.

edit: Just read the above post. This guys knows what’s up, lol. Something like that would be way more cool.

better idea is to just move on. it’s not 2004 anymore.

ask for an updated model and preserve the old one.

edit: before I get flamed, there are plenty of unobtainable items in the game that I do not have. I’m not asking for the glad mounts to come back, or the trial of the crusader ones, or any elite pvp transmog. It’s nice to see someone riding around with those. It freshens things up.

An updated model would be cool, but the original model has a unique appeal and it should be more accessible than a 230AM gold cap on the BMAH.
