I think it would be a great idea if blizzard ported a version of WoW into a portable gaming device such as the Nintendo Switch. The portability and convenience would make playing the game even better. As a 35yo, I don’t have the luxury sitting at my desk, gaming for hours. Having the ability to bring my game to the living room with the rest of my family sounds like a great idea to me. Please consider it
However the problem becomes more apparent when it comes to using abilities.
I have roughly 20 ish abilities and all of which are keybound. Thinking about button combination to finally bind your last ability will be hell.
If your argument is to sit on the couch with mouse and keyboard. There is already workarounds. Such as casting your computer screen to the living room tv and using a wireless mouse and keyboard.
The amount of time that would be spent pressing abilities normally is abysmal. On top of wireless connection, which admittedly, isn’t that bad.
Technology is there. I just don’t believe that the Switch would be a great way of handling that
I think you can do these things with a cloud gaming service I saw heavily advertised around BfA launch. I’m not sure if theyre still against ToS or not so I’m going to avoid mentioning the service name Just for good measure.
it does not have to be the same version as the retail. similar to diabo 3, we can enjoy a “lesser” verion on a handheld device. I know that some people want to enjoy the “pure” version of WoW and that’s great, I just want to have the option to have my game session sitting on my couch, next to my wife and family.
from my experience, a laptop in combination with a cooling pad (it does get pretty hot), plus the mouse/mouse pad next to you, does not make for a pleasant experience
The switch is a ton of fun, don’t see wow coming to it any time soon though. I think Diablo really was challenge enough. Which, in my opinion, turned out great, but the graphics are fairly poor.
It wouldn’t remotely be able to handle WoW. But WC3 somehow? Maybe. Might be neat to see that.
