See I don’t think that’s a very good reason.
If people are willing and able to do the content then they should be able to get that reward. If the means of getting the reward comes back then is it unfair or people being entitled if they do the same work everybody else did?
At the bare minimum I think they should bring back recolors of the CM sets. The legion recolors didn’t include the full models/effects which was a huge let down.

Whether you earned them or not is completely irrelevant. They were stated to be exclusive to that content, and within that time period. That exclusivity is part of the reward just like Gladiator mounts, Mage Tower appearances, Black Battle Tank, etc. They cannot take that away without the plaerbase losing all trust in Blizzard if they go back on explicitly saying that such rewards are exclusive.
they added a watered down recolor of the mount - it doesnt have the special effects that the CM phoenix mounts have.
so that recolor is basically the same type of recolor in the legion class hall sets.
similar look, different color, no special effects.
As someone who has a CM set, I don’t care if anyone else earns a recolored version. I don’t even care if they re-released the original versions.

Adding recolors of the set would not take away the prestige of getting the original one.

The mount does have effects, it is literally the same but in a different color, it is not the same as Legion Class Hall.
the mop CM pheonix mounts have a trail of light behind them like ashes of alar, this recolor does not have that.
