Bring George RR Martin on as a writer, please

I’m pretty sure we could all agree things would be not only written better, but WAY more interesting…

Don’t get me wrong, I like Christie Golden, you could easily say she’s the best writer for any of the WoW novel’s released…however this expansion and her last book are…pretty bad.

Joking aside with George RR Martin they really need to bring on some better writers. Warcraft’s story is SO intricate and cool but suffers from such bad writing since…the beginning.

Edit: For clarity’s sake since people are going off the rails. Martin for the purpose of killing people and no more plot armor BS and for better writing…not…content creating :smirk:

I’m scared he would write half the player base out of existence. And then they would implement that cull in game. In fact that’s a better way of losing half ur player base than the method BFA has taken. So I’m in for bringing the big man in.

Are we ready for a mature rated WoW? Lots of naked people everywhere, guys and gals. It would be like Moonguard but in the story.

Anyway, nothing I am sure would change it. At the end of the day it is still the overall team of devs that wanted to go this route to begin with, they are just doing ultimate what they are told.

Which writer of WoW novels is better?

Wow. Really? I’ve read two of her WoW relatived novels and they were… um, not very good. If the other authors to tackle WoW are worse, I can’t possibly even.

Richard Knaak. The War of the Ancients trilogy was much better than pretty much any of the novels since. There’s a reason why it’s only been incorporated more and more to the lore as time has gone on.

What you did there, I see it lol

Stackpole was the best for me. Hands down.

Which writer of WoW novels is better?

I have read thousands of books. Thousands. I find her writing style…disconnected and slow at times, stilted…she may appeal to many but if I want to find a good writer:

Kathleen Sky
Diane Duane
Anne McCaffrey
CJ Cherryh
Marion Bradley
Jean Auel

are far far better.

Clearly you haven’t read any of the other authors Blizzard has had write their books, then…

An example, when the orcs invaded Stormwind they had a paragraph that I PAINfully remember to this day. The author goes on to talk about how a march from there to the forests of the elves up north would take a really long time.

Next sentence “They arrive at the edge of the forest of the elves”

Like, a child could have wrote that better and went into at least SOME detail about the trek after emphasizing how long it would take to get there…

Meh just get Brandon Sanderson to write it.

The war of the ancients trilogy is the only set of books by him I enjoy. All his other writings are VERY bland and go into un-necessary detail about the most boring things.

George RR Martin? So we’d have the writing in place for the next expansion…if he started today…some time around 2032?

Good to know. Haven’t checked out the others.

Honestly, I don’t think they could get a good writer right now. Because no good writer would be willing to work with the constraints the team would put on them. The dev team don’t WANT good writing.

Right? I was reading the novels and war of the ancients trilogy isn’t bad, but Richard A. Knaak’s other wow books are VERY boring. They go into detail about things that nobody would care about to seemingly lengthen the book considerably.

Having more overrated hacks on the writing team isn’t going to improve things.
