Bring Flex Raiding To Cata

Yes it did 25 mans originally in Cata, the loot per person is relatively the same and the difficulty per fight varies so it’s a wash which size is harder but 10 man you have less cats to herd.

The current issue with 10 and 25 man is the difference in loot. Players really shouldn’t be held back because of the group size. That’s honestly a god awful design

Well the difference is that in wrath 10 mans are explicitly tuned to be easier.

No, it didn’t.

Fair enough technically it just significantly reduced it

I think flex raiding would be awesome, but aren’t there pretty big technical issues involved with that so things could scale correctly depending on the number of people in the raid? So I dunno. Maybe I’m wrong here, but my general view is that Blizzard don’t want to do huge dev work in Classic. Even with this Season of Discovery stuff they’re not (for the most part) creating new stuff, just taking stuff already in later versions of the game. A lot of it is stuff from Cata, so they’ve been working on Cata classic and grabbing stuff from there for SoD.

Oh you mean like… Flex Raiding?

That’d be cool and all… But LFR should stay.

Was flex raiding a cata thing? I thought it was added later then cata.

I agree. There was so much fuss over rdf being excluded from wrath, why not just give us lfr in cata? It wouldn’t be till the final raid anyway, and if you don’t want to use it don’t.

Was introduced in Siege of Orgrimmar (Last tier of Mists of Pandaria)

As much as flex raiding helps bring a couple more people. If the goal is to solve bench for bigger guilds it won’t as you’d be encouraged when min/maxing to bring the right amount of people. It’s not like Cata is the proof itself that flex raiding balancing doesn’t make much sense, with 10m and 25m often switching around in term of difficulty.

Static raiding while “harder” to fill also creates more opportunity for people to join as you can’t just reduce to a smaller size the amount of people. So you gotta consider both part. If anything for classic a bench hasn’t been a big thing in most guilds I have known and people prefer to fill with a pug or 2 if they’re missing too many players.

How do you figure out how much loot drops?

25 drops more loot, has more raid cooldowns and simpler tuning.
10man was harder than 25 the entirety of cata.

25 man dropped what 5 pieces or was it only 4?

And no the difficulty from a purely technical standpoint was a wash. Some fights were harder on 10 man some were harder on 25 man.

No fight was harder on 25man.

You had room for resto shamans and holy priests in 25man, aswell as more mana regen cooldowns.

There were plenty of fights that were harder on 25 man, pretty much any fight that had a spread out mechanic was harder on 25 man.

Shocking that 25 people spreading out in the same area as 10 people is harder for the 25.

Good thing the raids were built for 25 people then right? 10man was an after-thought.

The only thing modern WoW has down to a science is losing subs.
