I hope Blizzy will bring back World PvP in the next xpac. Doing bgs and arenas repeatedly feels very stale and out of touch with the vast world out there.
I donât think many people actually want world PvP. Hardly anyone seems to bother with warmode except when levelling, and even then you rarely see them actually fight.
Simplyred you nailed it. there is a reason actual pvp servers went the way of the dodo birdâŠthey were gank fest servers not pvp servers.any server can now be a pvp server by everyone simply turning on war modeâŠwe dont⊠why? its an agrivation in reality not theory.
PvP servers were removed because all of the top guilds were on PvP servers, carebears moved to PvP servers to apply to those guilds, then cried that PvP happened on a PvP server. PvP servers died because of crying raiders. Itâs sad and disgusting tbh.
World PvP was never true PvP, and the most vocal people about it were actual PvP players.
A geared player one-shotting a leveling alt is NOT PvP. A raid of 10 ganking a single player (geared or not) is NOT PvP. A rogue waiting for their target to be at 25% hp while fighting a rare to go in and one-shot him is NOT PvP.
Thatâs 99% of all interactions in PvP reals / warmode.
Almost never in the entire history of WoW PvP, weâve had âfair PvP based on skill,â like it is design in other PvP games.
Lies. Complete and total lies. There used to be plenty of PvP in BRM, and in Isle of Queldanas. I lived it. Youâre wrong.
Blizz killed world pvp with warmode and they said they have no intentions of bringing pvp servers back.
Honestly, players ruin world pvp. People camping and ganking lowbies/griefing are the reason we canât have nice things, cause pretty sure thatâs why people cried/why blizz put together WM to begin with.
I agree, i liked the spontaneous feeling of being on a pvp sever. But itâll never happen again
pretty much, yeah.
What we needed was a âdishonorableâ debuff from day 1, where you get SEVERLY punished for killing lowbies, and then the toxic nature of WoW PvP would have never truly developed.
Yes and no.
Like I understand âif itâs red itâs deadâ and MAYBE killing lowbies once. But more than once/stopping them from progressing and leveling is just flat out griefing and I feel like you should have some sort of count down system to keep track of how many times youâve killed a lowbie, esp since one could easily be caught in crossfire.
idk, there being a way to actively track if youâre griefing someone would be nice. I have no idea HOW they would implement something like that =/
Though in theory i do agree with you
yes, a well thought out version of an anti-grief system would be ideal. but when have they ever put any thought into PvP?
The best PvP we ever had was MoP, and even that was never as good as other PvP designed games.
Add 30 minutes of âLevel 1 debuffâ to lowbie gankers. Does not work on current level or higher zones for those trying to abuse it by bringing lowbies on current level zones.
How to bring back World PvP (or war mode)?
- Population check for shards (Constant one sided population steers people away)
- World bosses (may crash the server on high population)
- Objectives to boost questing
- Neutral town with guards that isnât overpowered
- Flying disabled
- Gear only obtainable on PvP
The most Iâll do is target them to have their nameplate on UI and then set their nameplate as focus: this allows me to target mobs/do whatever I have to do while keeping an eye on their targeting (seeing the instant they target me or their nameplate clears off of my screen from ranging by running off doing what they are already doing).
I think world PvP is a pipedream from the Classic Era of WoW. Then again my opinion on PvP is HEAVILY favored towards Random Battlegrounds. Everyone has their own favorite slice of PvP!
all these world pvp fans dont realize that people at least the majority of them never wanted forced world pvp to begin with
why do you think warmode is empty
its not because you cant attack players anymore its because what you thought was super cool isnt as appealing to others
Instead of âPvP happened on a PvP server,â itâs âTurn off Warmode.â Well, guess what, thatâs exactly what people did.
Even on PVE servers there were trolls that would flag up, run into your AOE to flag you, then kill you and camp your corpse. Fortunately you could wait 5 minutes to respawn and be unflagged, but your game was disrupted and you couldnât risk continuing the quest youâre trying to do because the idiot was gonna do it again.
Or wait till my backup showed up and we gave it back until we made the ars log off.
But none of that was wpvp, it was trolling. Attacking a leveling town like Auberdine on a PVE server to pick a fight wasnât wpvp either, it was just trolling the opposite faction. Warmode stopped all of it and then died. So what was wpvp really?
I never understood the people the complained about getting ganked, it happens man its not a big deal.
Hell ive been ganked or unable to quest in Spires during WoD, good lord so much pvp happened, it took almost a week to get that area done.
Didnt complain about it since i was on a pvp server technically it was rpvp
Warmode off meaning: I can sit and be afk all the time
Warmode on meaning: 95% of PvP players are alliance
Blizzard cannot even balance shards, PvP servers were good Warmode actually destroyed pvp action.
It is a war game, it is supposed to be like this, and yes I support the Idea of bringing PVP back to DragonFlight, Quests, World Quest that actually rewards honor/conquest points.
Warmode on should at least reward something that can be useful for PVP and here is an example:
Lets asume that 5k of honor is the current cap.
While questing you normally get small amount of gold and maybe a piece of equipment, but if warmode is on should reward maybe 35 points of honor, currently we get 10% extra gold if we complete a quest in warmode but gold does not buy honor gear.
I think because there is a difference between getting ganked and getting camped.
If someone is corpse camping you with buddies and killing you/preventing you from progressing, thatâs not really the same as getting ganked.
Itâs just someone who sucks at pvp using their friends to troll someone
There used to be Dishonorable Kills for killing anyone more than 4 levels lower than you. I believe it stacked, so the more you did it, the more you lost. There was also diminishing returns on killing the same people over again. They got rid of that in WotLK, I believe.
I remember back in BFA, trying to do the quests was crazy. Thereâd be no alliance anywhere, but the moment you attacked one, a raid group would come out of no where to just destroy you. Iâm sure alliance dealt with similar issues. The balance is very off.
