Yeah, there is precedence with code that disables all mount equipment for some mounts so disabling it for the striders wouldn’t be an issue unless the code/toggle for the water walking token is the same as the original for the striders.
all mounts with a watery theme should have a swim + walk on water ability.
I agree but there should be a trade-off.
In the arms race of making travel as trivial as possible, the ability to water-walk at normal speed was something Blizzard was correct to address.
Make some specific mounts water walking like large versions of those bugs we see walking on water.
Apparently someone at Blizzard just really hated Water Striders, but was a huge fan of the Sky Golem. Blizz just being Blizz, I guess.
the ghostly ottuk ( name escapes me) but it is blue for collecting x mounts, has flight speed groundspeed and swim speed, in in TWW it will have dymanic flight, it will be the best choice for travel.
It got to the point where that was the only mount people used. I got so sick of seeing it.
When the announced mist remix my very first reaction, “Oh no! That stupid mount is coming back”.
Thank god we can fly right away!
If I never see another water strider mount I’ll die happy!

I liked it better when people picked mounts that made sense for their character instead of what most trivialized the game.
I dont understand that part.
They did WWing, just go ahead and make flying equipment. It literally isnt going to make any difference at this point now that that ugly cat is out of the bag.
I really resented what they did in all this, screwing the striders over.

flashback to 2019:
People will ALWAYS use the best choice for travel. Would you use your legs if your mount ran faster? Would you use a horse that can’t walk on water if you could use one that could? would you use a bird that can’t fly, if you had the option to use one that could? Just for the theme of your character. It is the same thing with Gear, the Better gear you get the more you make the game trivial.
And then Blizzard will come in an nerf it some how with the same 
reason they nerfed the Water Strider - “tOo mAnY pEoPle UsEd iT!”
Side note: I’m the type of player who uses mounts that thematically fit the character I’m playing. Usually means I end up with 3-4 mounts on my bar (ground, water, flying, dragonriding), but that’s just how I like it.

Eh i am not saying people should or shouldnt shave a second or two here and there but i am saying they should be allowed to play the way they want. Not everyone wants to make their make match their mog/theme of their character fanasty.
People ask me why I have to have so many guns.
Different guns have different purposes. Different uses.
Im not going to hunt large game with a 22.
And Im not going to blow $5000 shooting $5 rounds at the range.
My 12 guages are for hunting some things, the 22 is for others.
Different mounts having different abilities made the game just a little more interesting.
I did the grind for the striders because they were unique. I could just as easily use the raft on water. But the striders were fun because they had something they did that other mounts couldnt.
I think all the complaining wasnt about homogeneity then…I think players were just too lazy to go do the grind themselves.
Seems to be confirmed in the fact that I NEVER SEE ANYONE on their mounts on water…EVER.
Feels like they wanted to whine about something they didnt have and Ion and crew then butchered the uniqueness of just one more thing in this game to placate.
Yeah true I just wish there were less blatant ways to defang the game.
Blizzard’s in a state where they obviously want you to explore the environment and make your navigation something you think about but also have so many options to cheese it.
I’m all for it. Passives, affinities, abilities would make mounts a lot more fun. I’ve been saying that for years, and Dynamic Flight made me pretty happy.
I really disliked when they ruined the water strider, but getting to level 30 so you can fly is so fast now that I don’t think it matters and I doubt they’re going to undo the mount changes.
hmm… if they let me have my skateboard, i’d ride it everywhere… regardless of speed.
who needs speed, when you’ve got kickflips to keep yourself entertained?

Exactly, things like the strider. I do not have such mounts myself and do not hunt mounts feverishly so I can easily have missed the existence of such mounts.
