Bring back War/Titanforge in SL

I get it. You dont want it returned mr Mythic raider. Your ego is at stake here i understand this to be true.

Why should a pleb normal/heroic raider be rewarded with higher ilvl gear than what they ‘deserve’ i hear you ask?

Well this is my reasoning i suppose:

Since TFing was removed and replaced with a much more volatile “corrupt forging” i have found myself never stepping foot in normal or lfr and barely doing M+ keys except the one a week i need.
I have now all but geared out in Heroic raid on the toons i wish to gear up. Im feeling a little, bored. This is a loot driven game after all and when that carrot is effectively dangled very close to your face compared to what it once was you dont feel that ever satisfying need for the chase.

Instead blizzard has created this artificial content to stretch out bfa until prepatch by introducing a “corruption vendor” and locking sockets behind 25000 mementos to keep ppl on the hamster wheel.

It feels worse tbh. It feels much worse. I want that thrill i got when a 455 socketed TF’d ring dropped from my 2’s Arena match last season. I was super excited!

I had that excitement when my first corruptions were dropping early in Nyalothas life span only for blizz to gut the corruption i got 2 of (echoing void)

Bring back Titanforging. Basic/static ilvls with no extra flavour will have ppl burning through content and dumping your game. They wont last patch cycles i can bet you anything.

Starting with a strawman is a great way to make an argument.

But I’ll bite: Titanforging is bad for the game for more reasons than just ‘scrubs are getting gear and I don’t want them to, bloo bloo bloo!’

It ruins the entire gearing process, and robs control from the player as to targeting gear in the first place. It devalues regular gear drops, as the only drops that start to matter are those that forge.

Now before you go and call me ‘Mr. Elitist’ or something - we have had better systems in the past, and they were better for casual players as well.

Thunderforging gave you something you could also get through crafting and badges, and was merely a shortcut to an upgraded item. This was a much better system, because there was a way to circumvent the RNG - and regular items weren’t devalued because they could still be upgraded.

Not to mention, the fact that it was done via badges and crafting kept people plugging along as well.

Valid points. Im all for thinderforging. Not calling you an elitist at all.

I said that first part because most ppl i tslk to say that they dont want some heroic raider gettinf better drops than them (even tho mythic gear can forge too lol)

Heck no. Don’t bring that stuff back. Don’t bring corruption back.

Simply… don’t add anything to replace those. It’s not needed. Keep it as it is, simple with Leech / speed / indestructible procs. A socket procs (that the players can still pay/farm to manually add it).

Gearing system is important, higher content should reward more. It’s needed in RPG, it’s progression.

Agreed, all the real mythic raiders never had an issue with some casual noob getting a single ultra titanforged piece of gear. They had full mythic sets, a piece or 2 of lucky tfs meant nothing to them.

The people that were whining and moaning about that were bad average players who were jealous and mad a player they consider “inferior” got better loot than them, it is pure jealousy.

Because of the lack of tf rn there is very little to do in game, as someone who is 470+ the only thing I can do to get gear is weekly mythic raid, weekly vision and the weekly m+ cache. Might as well play other games because there is nothing worthwhile.

While in legion I would still be clearing heroic because it gave me a good chance for a strong titanforge that was worth it…

Dear god no warforging/titanforging were terrible corruption is also trash but we only have to deal with it till Shadowlands so its thousands of times better then warforging/titanforging

I’ll just guess that it is another Sunday thread to avoid.

EDIT:

Still a good way to put it though.

Imagine going to McDonald’s to get a 4 piece McNuggets, you pay, get your nuggets and your happy and all that then some idiot comes and also gets 4 piece McNuggets but it McForges into a 12 piece McNuggets with a soda and some fries and you’re standing there like a !@#$ing idiot with your dumb 4 piece McNuggets while he/she has more than you for some weird reason even tho you both payed the same price but you are less rewarded because…

WoW 2018 gearing

ditch tf, wf, sockets and tertiary thanks bai

I want powerful gear to mean something. I want to see a dude with a really high item level and a lot of health and think, “Damn, that’s awesome!” not “Damn, he got a few titanforged drops from WQs that have you pet turtles.”

Without an interesting gear system Blizz will feel a sudden disturbance in their wallets… as if millions of casual nubs stopped playing WoW.

Considering the best days from WoW’s were from the days before WF/TF’ing were even a thing?

How can player’s miss something they never knew about? We’ll see the real effects in SL, when they go back to boring basic gear. I don’t think tier effects will be enough to save it.

They need to remove it all and never bring back a forging option again. First it was TF/WF, you farmed and farmed and farmed and got a forge than thought “Hmmm, could have been better”, so you farm some more. Than you think “Hmmmm, needs a socket”, so you farm some more.

No one is ever truly happy with some form of forging, you always think “I need more”. Where do you stop? Once you have the perfect set and with this many layers of RNG, it almost never comes. I’ve rarely seen anyone ‘finish’ a set of gear, you always want more.

If they just said “Here is your gear, this iLVL drops from this difficulty” we could than have something to work towards and focus on something other than farming all day.

No. Just no.

Blizzard has a very firm belief in that rng - and a lot of is required in a game like wow. If anything we’ll be seeing more rng in the future not less. Shadowlands might start out great but I can guarantee once they’ve dropped a content patch or two things will have changed drastically.

Not a Mythic raider and I 1 MILLION times disagree, and do not want WF/TF returned. There was no point to it, esp when a TF piece could drop from some dumb simpleton WQ that had 15+ Ilvl’s on it that equaled to a piece of Heroic/Mythic raid gear for absolutely zero effort.

Which will be non existent in SL so this is a ridiculous request for this reason.

:sparkles:

Casual players won’t miss TF because they also weren’t getting R3 BiS essences either. They also weren’t grinding for traits and BiS legendaries in legion. They have been WAY further behind than titanforging could ever make up for, it’s a myth. All the removal of TF is doing is incentivizing participation in high level content which is always a good thing.

It isn’t about what casuals get.

It’s about an unobtainable goal - BIS. You can’t really ever get BIS when everything is RNG.

Did I get gear? If yes…
Did I get a WF/TF ilvl upgrade?
Did I get best secondary stats for my class?
Did I get a Gem slot?
Did I get a Good Tertiary stat?

This is what they mean when they say killing a boss is like a slot machine. There’s RNG piled on RNG piled on RNG piled on RNG piled on RNG.

The ask is that they go back to when you knew EXACTLY what each boss would drop and the stats on that gear was set.

THAT’s the problem with gear drops.

As a casual player this xpac, I could care less (and when i was raiding, I didn’t care what “casuals” got while WQing or LFRing).

Everything people complained about WF/TF, Blizz ramped up 100x with Corruption.

I like this idea.
