Varian’s soul fused with the power core of the Fel Reaver when he stabbed it. The only way to bring back Varian is to recover the core and build a new robot body around it.

This would satisfy my wild fantasy of the Alliance being led by the REAL Anduin- Lothar.
It’s wild because I know it’s not possible. But Danath is a very close second.
How is Varian different from Anduin?
He’s manlier. And not a crying angel boy band leader.

I think the Alliance should developed a character better fit to lead instead of trying to bring back a dead one . But lets face it, Anduin is here to stay.

What if his soul takes over anduins body?
The real issue is the Alliance lacks the moral nuance with regards to the faction conflict to make Anduin’s idealism and empathy for Horde races interesting. Angry Jaina and Greymane’s desire to wage war on the Horde is largely correct in light of the burning and Anduin himself knew it’s necessary to wage war on Sylvanas in particular.
