Bring Back Unique Casting Animations As an OPTION

I have been having a blast lately healing on my Dwarven Shamaness.

The SECOND that dwarves could be shaman in-game, I faction-swapped my orc shaman into a dwarven shamaness. She’s one of my FAVOTE characters.

That’s her there. <3

What I loved most about her was her hilarious jokes and flirts and her casting animation.

When she would cast her heals, she’d place her hands by her side as she channeled the spell. She reminded me of this beautiful Greek statue.

Sometime in Legion, I think, Blizzard began to homogenize abilities. Characters stopped casting abilities based on their race and sex, but based off of the new casting animation for that spell.

It didn’t matter if you were a female blood elf or a male orc–they both started to cast Chaos Bolt identically.

That was upsetting, because although it’s a powerful spell, the body motion of casting Chaos Bolt was not dignified nor “snooty” as my blood elf warlock is…

Well, this seems to have continued with many other abilities.

Thaelissa now casts her 2 main heals identically to all other shaman. The only ability that she casts as a female dwarf is the quick heal ability.

This makes me sad.

I LOVED that the race and sex of the character I chose cast magic differently.
I do NOT like that they all cast/attack the same now.

PLEASE allow us a check box that we can activate so that my characters cast their spells based on their race and sex once more.

I want to FEEL like I’m a female dwarf, or a male orc, or a blood elven female when I cast.

It really does take a LOT of my immersion out when I see them all cast abilities the same way.

Hello, I see you made a thread about animations! I love them too! Family Guy and South Park are my favorites! Nothing like a good Wheel of Fortune parody! Poor Randy, so confident in his puzzle solving skills. Hahahaha!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Me like my panda animation but female panda casting animation need change.
Is very dramatic, female panda leaning all the way back for every single cast.

I can understand that.

I am having the opposite issue: I love that the different races and sexes had different casting animations.

When I was on my dwarven female, that allowed me to have a different experience than when I was on my dwarven male, or female night elf, or male orc, or draenei male, or female human, etc.

By having these new casting animations override the race/sex casting animations, it homogenizes the experience.

For someone who loves to have alts, it really kills my enjoyment of that race/sex combination because they now feel almost identical in experience to any other race/sex combination.

All I ask is for a little check box that I can check to say “use standard casting animation for new spells.”

For example: the Chaos Bolt cast makes the character look so labored. You’re barely able to cast it. As I said, that makes my blood elf warlock look undignified. I expect her to be a master of the arts. She shouldn’t be visibly struggling so much. She looks like a neanderthal while casting it.

On my female and male orcs? That’s fine. I don’t care. They are meant to be brutish.

That’s entirely the point. It’s not an easy spell to cast.

My warlock has killed Kil’Jaeden and the Old gods.

Also, it is an OPTION for those who don’t like the new homogenized casting animations.

…they do have unique casting animations.

Just they’re class based, not race.

Do you mean “Bring back Racial Casting Animation as an Option”?

Racial and sex-based.

Male night elves, for example, cast way differently than female night elves.

At the moment, the class-based casting animations are really killing my enjoyment of alts.

They all feel the same when they cast because so many of the casting of animations are now class-based. :frowning:

I don’t like that. I loved feeling like the race and sex that I had chosen for my toons based on how they cast. It’s as natural to them as a running animation.

Now, they all “run” the same way.

It’s boring and homoginized.
