Legion was the only time in WoW I’ve actually had fun fishing. For reasons I still don’t understand they didn’t continue with it in BFA onwards, and that’s an absolute shame.
Bring back the artifact or at least the perk tree.

I think the Tuskarr faction is supposed to have a ton of fishing content, though I haven’t looked into specifics much.
This can be said for a lot of the popular “systems” they’ve done over the years. For example, archaeology was almost fun at one point.
Cuz Artifacts were so last expansion /s (Back in BfA days)
You can still use it the same way it was in Legion, minus the swimming nerf that happened in BfA I believe. Unless you want more AP farming they’d have to redesign it to allow players to continue progression on it and I don’t see that happening.
Artifact Fishing Pole is definitely one of the cooler things in the game.
Just got it and levelled it up on my last Alliance guy.
I still use my under light angler in Shadowlands. Mainly for the underwater form only, but it’s still pretty useful.
I was on the beta and the underlight angler was reclassified as a fishing tool and could be placed in the updated profession window. Then i went questing in dragonflight zones and was able to get the swim perk.
I tried putting it into my Fishing Pole slot last night — it equipped into my weapon slot, and didn’t go into the fishing equipment slot. That’d be a huge disappointment if I had to leave it behind; it’s a favorite item.
