This is probably never going to happen, but I suppose I’m a blind optimist.
“On August 23, 2013, Blizzard Entertainment announced that the TCG would be discontinued, and that they would not be renewing the game’s license.” — thanks Wiki.
Blizzard probably has no interest in bringing back TCG, but I think that collectors (of mounts, pets, toys, and the cards themselves) would love to see the creation of some new packs that would fit the next expansion and potentially the expansions after that.
I miss the feeling of opening those TCG boxes and hoping to find a rare card. I guess it’s less than likely now, especially since a lot of people have stopped playing - but one can dream!
If you were a TCG collector, what was your best find (or even your favourite box set?) Or if you bought a TCG item on the Auction House, what was it?
My favourite had to be the Worldbreaker box - it came with a mousepad and a bunch of cards. Found my Mottled Drake after my second box purchase.

It was under Cryptozoic when it was cancelled.

Mm, I remember the packaging had Cryptozoid (or something of the sort) as the producer. Maybe I’m wrong.
And yes, but BMAH is purely for in-game item collectors, not card collectors. I don’t want to seek out BMAH for mounts etc, if they can be sought through a more interesting way.

yup that was correct, they took over the licence but either way the failing sales of the TCG and the the introduction of Hearhtstone was the reason why the original TCG was killed off
Upper deck is also still alive and well in the card game space.
Seeing the TCG shelved for Hearthstone was a huge letdown. I played a lot of TCGs when I was younger, and the WoW TCG was surprisingly extremely well designed. I honestly feel that it was actually the best TCG I had ever played (yes, better than MTG). Then they completely gutted almost all the mechanics to dumb it down into the abomination that is Hearthstone.
only thing I’ve seen them thrive is in their sports collectables and their Legendary/VS card game series. Beyond that, they got nothing compared to giants like Wizards of the Coast, TPCi and Konami
They have Hearthstone now
I agree, I would love a physical TCG that was good with the WoW IP, or any blizzard IP for that matter. But like all the others have said, that market is dominated by the beg three (mtg, yugioh, pokemon) and a really tough nut to crack. Not to mention the digital tcg landscape has eclipsed the physical, especially now with the pandemic.
I’m afraid it’s hearthstone or bust for this pipe dream.
