Bring back the threat & CC game to tanking / instances

I actually didn’t think about this… is that really impactful on the PTR currently or do you have anymore info to share?

EDIT: I suck at using the new forums - I fear trying classic as I know it will be me re learning the game and from everything I’ve heard, it doesn’t seem the most fun.

They do A LOT of damage on PTR. Even Prot Warriors currently lose “next to nothing” from their TClap nerf since they can just take the CDR heart thing and be in Avatar for like twice as long and constantly get random Absorb Pains.

The laser is also really good on things like MM Hunter where you get an obscene amount of crit chancd.

I imagine that will be nerfed or altered in a future PTR build, no?
If not, yikes… :eyes:

Ill prob play a little bit. It’s bringing a few friends and my brothers back to the game. It’ll be a nostalgia trip for me

I just hope there’s enough patience to go around while some us fumble around Azeroth for the first time :joy:

Unfortunately i doubt there will be a lot of patience for a game that came out in what 2004?

Dude, come on, there are at most 4 effects you need to be prepared for as you speed run your way through a dungeon pulling as fast as you can. What’s worse is that the primary game play mechanic that is used to overcome the challenge of the effects is by gearing up so that they can be completely disregarded.

The only “tactic” that matters in Mythic+ in regard to effects is gear. Without the effects, Mythic runs are nor more challenging than the normal dungeons that they are based off of.

Here’s a list of the affixes, can you let me know which ones you don’t need to handle? Which ones are you disregarding? Do you even know what they do?

Bolsting
Raging
Sanguine
Teeming
Bursting
Necrotic
Skittish
Volcanic
Explosive
Quaking
Greivous

well… yes. that’s the point. the affixes modify the dungeons and make them more difficult

Tell that to the one Venom Blast cast that went off on Grievous week that halved someone and got them up to 3 stacks of Grievous that the healer couldn’t keep off. Or the group eating Poison Barrage on the bridge in KR and instantly wiping. Or that same bridge where the tank didn’t kite the double berserker pack and died to 3 stacks of the bleed. Or how you got to the last boss with 80% or 130% trash and not exactly 100%. Tactics don’t matter though.

Also PLEASE tell me how you can overgear and faceroll a 17 or something and ignore “tactics”.

Right? I cc all the time. I don’t have a tank stop the group, pull us over to the corner, mark targets, and ask us to cc one at a time. I just do it. I stun stuff. I hex stuff. We kill things and move on. I do this as a healer who SEES what happens when rogues pull threat or (heaven help us all) when the shadow priest does.

That said, I do remember the following with fondness:

“If I see so much as a dot on the boss before three sunders is up, that’s an automatic raid kick and 10 DKP forfeit.”

You can ignore all of them if you have the gear to do so. That was my point. If you are going into a mythic without the gear, of course 1, 2, 3 or even 4 effects is going to give you some difficulty, but that’s not how mythics work. The entire system is predicated on the fact that you only progress if you have the gear to do so. Once you have the gear, these effects don’t matter.

If this wasn’t the case, selling carries wouldn’t be a thing.

They don’t, because by the time you start engaging these dungeons successfully, it’s because you’ve grinded out the gear from the previous tier to nullify the effect.

The average joe isn’t pushing Mythics because they are Glorious Mythic Heroes, it’s because they mechanics are no longer an issue for the players who are “properly geared” to even consider attempting them.

This wasn’t the case for Classic Dungeons Progression. The only players who were overgeared for dungeons were raiders.

“You can ignore all of them with gear” - quote from man one shot by volcanic or got his cast interrupted and took half his health from quaking.

I never see this, unless threat to you is some unseen hand applying damage effects to a character because they didn’t do their dance properly.

Damage in WoW isn’t the product of some enemy that can be predicted and acted upon anymore. It’s a relentless parade of status effects that go off without much to do about it.

lol… maybe that’s how you do them, but that’s not the intent.

so because the average joe doesn’t do the content until it’s trivialized, it’s not difficult?

ok.

I’m about to go fail a few +18’s in the hope of pushing one before the timer. I’ll let my group know we’re doing it wrong.

Agreed.
IF Im going to play again, dungeons and farming IS my game.
Id like to see more reliance on the healer by DPS and tanks for staying alive and Id also like to see tanks having to WORK to tank instead of just blasting thru a dungeon like his shoes are on fire.

Oh, well then that must mean it never happens.

Yes. I’m an absolute idiot who knows nothing about how anything works. Go with that.

  1. Quaking damage is unavoidable.

  2. It’s not brain surgery to not stand next to another player every 20 seconds

  3. I dont DPS in Mythics so if you think you know something, you don’t.

Im gonna be honest. That guy is crazy. Arguing with him is almost like talking to a wall
