Bring back the Garrison

A properly integrated housing system is involved with all aspects of the game - professions to make furniture/decorations, exploration to find rare items/vendors, and raiding/PvP to get trophies and other bragging rights items.

When it’s done right, there’s massive amounts of incentives to actually play the game so as to earn the stuff needed to make that sweet house in the first place.

Not to mention, they should include “party” things to do with friends - I know Runescape had a boxing/dueling arena you could set up in your house, along with other social “rooms”. Lots of fun when done right.

Even if not for player housing Garrisons would be a good way to update older zones. Allow high level and low level people to participate in world quests with each zone where you gather resources to build a new garrison in a zone, once finished that zone updates.

When Runescape added player houses to their game ~16ish years ago it was fantastic. You could customize it the way you wanted, show off your stuff, and you could even throw house parties and build a boxing ring to beat up your friends. If a game that ran on Java could manage something like that almost 2 decades ago, there’s no reason Blizz can’t create something similar today.

You’re going to have to back this up with some facts with a citation or two. There was never anything said this was meant to be player housing.

Considering that Blizz has said, in no uncertain terms on many, many, many occasions, that they have zero interest in adding player or guild housing to the game, I don’t think “individual player housing” was ever the intent of the Garrison.

It was a “stonghold” that was expansion based. The fact that we still have the table is silly, honestly. It servers zero purpose anymore outside of using a useless currency. Neither are needed. BfA should be the last expansion for both.

Citation included in my original post edit. Is there anything else you can’t do for yourself that you would like help with?

When you make a statement like that, you have the onus to provide the source.

But then, it really doesn’t matter what someone said in an announcement for garrisons, what…8 years ago? - the reality was what went to beta and Live. Blizzard has done things like that over the years - make announcements that don’t make it to the Live game. Stuff happens. I’ve learned in my 14+ years here not to get excited about Anything announced til I see it Live.

Now, Blizzard has also said a lot of things that will never happen in-game and then slowly changed their minds (hide everything?). That’s okay though - this game is not carved in stone and sealed with polymers. So maybe someday we’ll get player housing but they’ve said no all this time and there’s nothing in the near future.

Who wants to be my player housing roommate? :3

I am still unclear about what in that video you are fixated upon as being different from what was delivered.

But I’m wondering if I might have assumed you cared more about customization when your OP is more about displaying weapons and armour.

What do you think of the way skins and tier sets were displayed around the Legion order halls? Would it have made a difference to you if those features were in the garrison?

What did you think of the archeology room in the garrison? (Where pristine artifacts were displayed)

So what you’re saying is that you’re agreeing with me, because my statement was that they should release aversion that fulfills what they said it would be, not what it ended up being. Lawyered.

That threw me off with the word “aversion”…then realized it’s “a version”.

They can do whatever they like/want/need with this game - it’s their game. Sometimes plans don’t pan out. Sometimes tech defeats them. Sometimes …it just happens. I would never hold them to anything with a childish outcry of, “but you Said…!!!”

Game on.

Where is the downvote button when I need it

I want a ship.

I want to build it. We need a new profession–Shipwright.

I want to sail it too.

I want it to be customizable. Sails. Figureheads. Colors. Crew. Everything.

I would make my first ever Forsaken character so I can build a ghost ship.

I was kind of surprised they removed garrisons actually. The problem with WoD was the lack of content and all they did develop was garrisons. Now that they are in game again it wouldn’t take as much this time around. Would it be a problem if this expansion was exactly the same except with the addition of garrisons? Would give something else to do

I totally dig you name (for realsies!), because I see your character doing air quotes as she introduces herself at the beginning of every post. It also helps that your snark is well-written, logical and often times humorously crafted.

I’m sure you’re being facetious, but that actually sounds like a phenomenal idea.

If you make the claim to be true then it’s your job to produce the evidence.

Iv been saying this since legion. Loved my garrison.

Player housing would be an awesome addition to WoW.

I mean, come on, we’re meant to be the most powerful person on Azeroth, and yet we’re homeless!

Unless you were a priest, specifically not Draenei… in which case you got a room that was trying way too hard to look like nothing for fear of feeling like a church and ultimately felt like an unfinished room in the Exodar. I hated our Order Hall.

All for a more traditional cosmetic personal housing system.
While I was excited for the Garrison I feel like too much was lost.

They stand on ceremony about housing, a lot of the arguments to the contrary are silly. People QQ about it for all kinds of reasons, who cares if there are 20 or 50 players afk around the AH in Orgrimmar? Seems like a lot of the same people who don’t like CRZ or Pathfinder gating or any of the other ways Blizz tries to encourage people to just be in the world with eachother.

ESO, FFXIV, Wildstar (rip) all have / had really interesting takes on housing. Make it happen cappin’
