I think a lot of players would welcome back talent tree from classic with open arms so please blizzard think about it?
Nah. Wasted resources.
Blizz has never been able to balance talents and most players just pick whatever wowhead/icy-veins tells them to.
I would just be happy if they made the limited talents we have actually viable.
The modern talent system has been better to not push everyone towards cookie cutter builds than the old talent trees. Even if most classes have several rows that, like the old talent trees, still have absolute no-brainers surrounded by garbage.
It was extremely obvious in the old talent systems that there were talents that you had to be an idiot to not take (or to take) which only gave an illusion of choice
Theyâll probably make the talent tree respec cost some sort of conduit energy. You only get to change the talent tree every other week. Or maybe! They will make it so u need to run torghast to the 6th floor to respec 1 point in the talent tree.
I would welcome it, sure there were always some cookie cutter stuff but I genuinely liked a âtreeâ for talents. Iâd like to see a shake up too in 10.0.
Ions way of design doesnât jive with me.
No way its one of the many reasons i dont like classic as much as retail
And I would welcome talents that removed buttons like that cool Demon Blades one
Nah, I would rather have my full passive at a certain level than have to increase it by increments for five levels. I also like getting my more useful abilities and passives early on rather than waiting until near the end of the leveling experience for my best talents.
I fully support this.
And while yes cookie cutters always existed, heck they still exist for current talents even, the difference was you had a lot of options to just be casual and mess with the talents for fun.
As I mentioned in the other thread I had made a blood/frost hybrid spec of my own in late WLK and it just butchered all melee. To the point of getting into a 1v4 and killing all of them.
It was so fun to experiment sometimes.
But like I want it to have classic feel but with the retail twist on it ya know a more modern vibe
I understand that point. Maybe have it feel more like talent points by being trees again and having more options but instead of being like 5 points per bracket making it 1-2 points and you only get a point every other level? So instead of going 5 levels and filling a talent with 5 points for say 5 crit, you wait 2 levels and put one point for the 5 crit then move forward in another two levels.
Meanwhile have the levels you donât get talents in be the ones you get spells in.
I think my recent example might help with that.
Add on the point of pre-Cata allowing you to put points wherever and no be entirely defined by one sole spec.
What is this logicâŚas opposed to the perfctly balanced⌠errr clear cut conduit and legendary choices we have now? Lmao
Please, donât put (more) Classic stuff in the Retail game. There is a reason why Blizzard now offers two versions of the game and a reason why many of us prefer Retail over Classic.
Naw.
Even the old talent tree were not talent trees. More like talent sticks because everyone followed the same damn build.
My list of wants for 10.00: cross spec talent trees, WoD era glyphs back, and swappable pet family specs.
Youâre comparing core class talents that Blizzard will have to maintain and balance for the games lifespan against a borrowed power systemâŚthat was implemented so they donât have to maintain and balance a bloated talent system for the games lifespan
So yes, bringing back talent trees is a waste of resource
I think a lot of players would welcome back talent tree from classic with open arms so please blizzard think about it?
I would welcome a talent tree from classic. That being said, the current talent tree is basically all the key abilities from the old talent tree, with more of them. So, they basically cut out the filler and just left behind the flashy or key abilities.
I think itâs important to ask if Itâs better. And the answer is probably no, not inherently. It is more efficient, and it gets to the point with more choices and with more flexibility, but there are some flaws. The new talent system doesnât give players a per-level reward like the old system did, and in an MMO that needs to establish leveling as an important aspect of the game, it kind of fails at that. This did get better with the level squish, but itâs still an issue none the less. The new talent tree also suffers from dead talent choices, which makes your already limited choices feel even more limited.
So, yeah, Iâd love to see a return of the old system, which maybe could run along side the current system. But I donât realistically see this happening, even if itâd be better for the game in my opinion.
No thanks⌠I hated the old talent tree.
This is actually not a terrible way to get Blizzard on board with the long overdue idea of adding more talents. Their philosophy of, âTOO MANY BUTTONS ARE SCARY!!!â is one of the excuses for stalling out on character and talent development these last⌠when was the last time we got a new talent rowâŚ?
And yes, often âautomates a thingâ is also somehow antithetical to their development dogma, but a balance needs to be struck. One that is not this paint-chip eating idiocy where the solution apparently is, âand then players never saw any further permanent development ever again because supporting things for more than a single expansion is just too much work and we donât wanna.â
Talents that are passive or automating are both far better than nothing. Hell, largely incidental QoL rows that just make things more convenient would make for welcomed additions. Again, this is not in exchange for meaningful talents which dictate combat style. This is just an alternative to, again, the absolute nothing weâve gotten for far, far too long.
