Bring Back Reforging?

As title asks… Do you think Blizz should bring back stat reforging, like what they did in Cata? To me I always liked this element they added to the game. Made any piece worthwhile. What do you all think?

I think crafting gear with the stats you want on it and all the different sockets you can guarantee has well and truly supplanted reforging, plus with hit/expertise caps not being a thing anymore reforging doesn’t really serve a purpose.

No, because if they brought back reforging they would likely bring back hit and expertise with it.

Nope. No reason to do so. We can upgrade the gear we want to keep now, instead of constantly replacing it. And we can craft and gem things with our preferred stats.

Reforging was mostly for hit and expertise rating, which no longer exists. And stats aren’t weighted the same for reforging to be worth it.

Doesn’t matter to me as long as they don’t replace the transmog npc on the yak mount back to a reforge npc like it was originally

They should but they won’t. People are already complaining the talent system we have right now is too much ‘work’ and confusing. Can you imagine adding in reforging / D3 enchanting lol. As much as I would love a system to customize my secondary stats as much as I want, that ain’t happening I don’t think.

You can already do this. Crafted gear, gems and upgrading the gear pieces you want to keep with your preferred stats. The only pieces you can’t tailor are four tier pieces and a trinket or maybe two.

Yeah but you can’t 60/40 any stats like you could with reforging which is distinctly unique to it. You’re still locked to a 2 secondary stat limit with a third tertiary.

You’re assuming they’d allow it to be like that. And since we can 50/50 stats or just 100 stats with gems when crafting, without the hassle of constantly trying to fix crap, this way is infinitely better, imo.

I’d like to have reforging back, since I don’t like crafted gear that much, but I see your point.

I wouldn’t say it’s unneeded. It would definitely help classes with stat soft caps reach their breakpoints when using non-crafted gear.

Well, if they just made it so we could freely switch out secondary stats with reforging in multiple forms (100 + 100 | 100 + 60/40 or 100 + 50/50 | 50/50 + 50/50) I’d say that is far better and more convenient than relying on any crafting system.

You can do that with gems and gear. Recrafting doesn’t cost much of anything to swap missives.

I mean yes, of course. But we also used to need NPC’s to respec and it costed gold - then we had to be in a rested spot - now anywhere. (much better and convenient, ofc) It’s a good step up from not having either system, (None vs old reforge) but reforging which would allow for any kind of stats with multiple options and not needing to spend gold like that would be WAAAAY better.

That’s just me though.

I think it would be a good thing to bring back for crafters.

Reforging always cost gold. And it was meant for hit and expertise. It’s an archaic system that just made everything else a mess.

It would be nice on paper, but without the hit/expertise “balance” to offset it, people would get obscene amounts of their best stats.

It would be pointless as there are no stats to reforge, they don’t matter. They’ve made the game to where you can’t do anything with stats, any time you stack something it hits a DR and becomes useless, every single time I simmed, it was best to just have equal amounts of stats unless it’s like Mastery for Frost or something because Frost’s mastery is just, wow, more Frost damage.

Reforging in modern WoW would almost be gimping yourself. I don’t think every class needs one stat so much that they need reforging.

Now if tertiary stats were actually on gear, then we might have something.

As feral I would convert all my versatility to 52% crit, 20% haste, and then stack Mastery up the wazoo.

Yet they could bring it back and improve it like they did with the other systems lately, and make the game more customizable and convenient. Let’s not sit here and pretend like relying on Crafters for customization is a good system, especially since the revamps didn’t work out all that well.

I’d much rather have an easy to use system with choices and drop-downs to what I want vs using crafting and adhering to an already failed revamp.

Which is a waste of time considering we have better options right now. That system was annoying and exhausting to use. And without hit/expertise, it’s even more of a waste.

Put in recrafting order before bed. Get into game next day/evening and pick up mail.

And honestly, how often are you even changing stats? Like why?

That was not reforging. And since stats don’t even work the same way anymore, it’s not much worth it.

You do you, but that system was more of a pain than it was positive.
