“gear is gear” one size fits all for all content is not fun or immersive. We need a specific pvp pathway to pvp gear, not forcing us to do dungeons and raids just to be viable against players.
It used to feel satisfying working towards a pvp set. Now it feels like there is no pvp progression and only endless slot machine PVE grinds. There is a lot of potential with War Mode such as introducing pvp dailies emissaries.
Legion had some fun pvp free-for-all world quests…what happened to that?
if you want to pvp and be competitive you HAVE to pve. not just at 120 but literally at every level gear from pve/ quests is better than random bg drops.
Apparently Blizzard has made the strategic decision to force intermingling of PvE and PvP. That’s where we are. I doubt it changes to the glory days of MoP and WoD.
am i in the minority here? I really like that i can get gear from both PvP and PvE and its usable in both. I really dislike the idea of going back to having 2 separate sets of gear.
The problem is that the vast majority of the BiS gear in the game - for both PVE and PVP, mind you - is locked behind PVE content; also, PVE content rewards gear far more consistently than PVP content does - i.e.: end of dungeon loot chests as opposed to boxes of fish. Thus, PVPers are being forced into PVE content just to stay competitive. Being forced to do anything never feels good. It feels like a chore.
Honestly, I - personally - miss the days when PVP gear was BiS for PVP, and PVE gear was BiS for PVE. If you tried to PVP in PVE gear, you got obliterated; likewise, if you tried to PVE in PVP gear, you’d be doing trash DPS/HPS. You’d think that Blizzard, with their obsession over time-played metrics, would love this idea… I mean, people would have to farm two sets of gear if they wanted to do both PVP and PVE.
I like it as well. I like being able to push arena for gear that I can use during raids.
If they go back to separation then it will be like legion, players that want to also pve really just won’t pvp at all with keys and the tower challenge.
This is the real problem. If pvp gear had more varied options and rewarded gear at the same pace as keys it would be great.
Or they just want people to play more of the game like players used to.
Resilience/PvP Power are not necessary answers to PvP’ers feeling forced to PvE for gear. Those dividers were entirely unneeded and getting rid of them was a strong design decision. We don’t need to re-introduce one problem to resolve another.
I’m told that the WoD gearing system was an adequate medium.
Resilience was terrible. If your class only do physical damage, you are basically useless against tanks and healers, esp plates.
I agree PVE grind is unnecessary, but they needa balance class/specs first.
Ummm what? Most pvpers never used to PvP. 3/4 of the blizzcon participants back in the day never even bothered with pve. They liked pvp, they pvpd. They’ve never done this much pve.
Even now, trill is famous as one of the few blizzcon people to actually pve seriously. Virtually nobody else does it out of enjoyment.
You actually believe that no one had stormhearld. I can turn on a stream and watch players do both in classic. They used to post data on the amount of players that did kara.
I can’t wait for you to play tbc/ wrath legacy. BiS slot lists have existed for years. They include both pvp and pve items. I’ll laugh when you complain about the pve items and the “changes” that blizzard made, like those items never existed and that players never had them.
There is a difference between not wanting to pve and not having to vs. pve vastly outpacing pvp rewards.
I still have to do that! PVE gear does not work for PVP the stats, essences, talents and corruptions are all different. Besides, it is not like you went in naked when you brought PVP gear into WoD dungeons…
Right now I have about 6 sets of gear it seems. My bags are half taken up with gear right now.
Many agree with this as long as the best PvP gear comes from PvP and PvE gear comes from raiding. It’s doesn’t make sense for mythic raiders to come in and ROFL stomp BG’s because of gear disparity.
I believe it wasn’t nearly as disruptive as you are trying to make it out to be. Warriors weren’t that big of a deal in bc compared to locks, druids, and rogues.
I can’t wait until this comes out and you get to see most of the arena ladders will consist of people in full pvp gear, and then you can finally shut up with this stupid arguement stance
I dunno why he even keeps bringing up TBC/Wrath. PvPers didn’t like PvE gear then either, and it’s not like it’s at all relevant when the prior 3 expansions to BFA had little to no PvE gear in PvP. PvP 12 years ago isn’t exactly relevant to the modern game… but then when you start talking about the modern game he goes off on sub counts as if PvP has anything to do with it. Almost as bad as arguing with Jugaa.
For pve sure. Not sure what this has to do with anything we are currently talking about.
Those list have existed forever and in bc and wrath the pvp ladders was still majority pvp gear, with very few trying the gimmicky crap
