Bring back point vendors and scrap the vault

Gearing through RNG is simply not satisfying, especially with the abysmally low drop rate of gear in dungeons/raids. It’s more fulfilling to grind out dungeons when there is guaranteed tangible reward (even if its small) at the end.

This is why the majority of players favor the valor and justice points system. If what I need didn’t drop, fine. I will keep running dungeons to get the points I need to get the items I want. It does not disincentivize people from playing. If anything, it would push people to grind out more dungeons to get the points they need for the upgrades they want. We have it for PvP, why not for PvE?

Simply put, I would enjoy the game more and therefore play more if I had a guaranteed reward that I wanted each week, not a CHANCE at a reward I wanted.

So I ask the community, why did Blizz scrap the points system and institute the vault RNG method for PvE? Am I alone here?

i to really loved the justice valor system i feel like they could still use there current rng and this system with slight ilvl and stat varrisnces to keep both casual and hardcore players motivated to do the same content

Same, really enjoyed the justice and valor system. Miss them a lot.

I feel like the vault would be better if you got to pick one item per row for every 3 you unlock. For example if I did 10 raid bosses and got 3 of the top row from there, and 10 mythic dungeons and got the entire middle row, that would be 6 slots total and I could take 2 (one from each row). It might however, gear to fast which is what they’re against. Then again I’m just a nameless player in this void of a forum.

It needn’t be an either/or, but as the PvP vendor popularity shows, players appreciate a guaranteed goal to grind towards.

And frankly, SL is still grossly lacking in that dept. for non-high level PvPers.

I actually think Blizz knows the current system is bad but with the delays they’ve had, they need to drag out the gearing process as long as possible for most players, they feel.

Nonsense, if you don’t like the gear options just take the Stygia and buy…

Wait, Stygia isn’t a currency that lets you buy gear?

It does however let you buy conduits. I just wish it let us be more specific with it. I did some napkin math at like 3am (for priest conduits) so it might be wrong, but this is what I came out to for a full conduit set.

“Ok so there are 20 conduits. They are 1900 each at Ven’ari. Assuming each one is 184, you need 152,000 stygia to upgrade each one to 226.”

That 750 is sure making a dent, thanks great vault!

Probably some artless/souless suit with a TedTalk’s worth of charts pointing to an RNG exclusive system making for a more effective skinner-box.

Why not both?

I honestly really like the vault. It’s RNG yes but so is most the game at least it still gives you some choice.

I think the vault along with a vendor would be fine and they can give us tokens at the end of each dungeon run with a token cap each week that we can use to buy gear (much like conquest, I think it used to be capped in WotlK anyway to some extent). And if you don’t like your vault rewards you can get tokens instead.

They could even lock the available ilvl behind what level of M+ you’ve complete similar to CR.

Valor gave NORMAL raid or 10m raid level loot, in wrath. You’d be nerfing yourself for the entire expansion for no reason to want this. They’ve NEVER given heroic or mythic gear to buy with Valor at any point that I can recall. All the trinkets etc I could buy even in cata and MoP were normal raid level.

Are you aware of what you have given up in place of the vault? Loot drops have been gutted to the point of almost never seeing gear from mythics.

The vault was an answer to the weekly chest, which was already just a bad system. But at least when we had the weekly chest we could still earn gear from doing things like arenas. Winning a ranked arena match had a chance to give you a piece of gear as a reward.

The vault does away with all of it, and instead gives you a slot machine’s chance of getting decent gear. I have had two weeks now where no viable PvP option was presented to me, one week where I had to do a cloak with no versatility stat, so essentially useless PvP item.

The vault is a depressing business driven decision to keep players chasing the dragon. Honor/Valor vendors will never fully make a comeback because they gave players too much power over loot drops.

Valor only existed for certain slots. And if you got them in dungeons or raids first then gg. The only time you could get a full stop heroic armor cost huge upgrade costs and had mostly bad stats and no rings or weapons. Which was in nazjatar. Thinking you could buy BiS with Valor for every slot? Lol

Ion’s team would just timegate the badge system to a degree that makes the whole thing just as annoying, if not more.

We may be mall walkers. But that mall doesn’t really sell that much lol.

When did I mention buying BiS for every slot? You can’t do that with the current PVP system now either. I’m just saying it would be something in line with the current system already used for PVP gear. At least getting some tokens at the end of M+ would be better then 35 anima that you can use later to fill in some unlucky slots.

Why was it fine to eventually get BiS for Azerite gear through the Titan Residuum system but it’s not okay here?

3 slots. 3. BiS for every slot is not the same thing. Try reading all I said.

Even if I cared to, that is still three more slots than we currently can save up to gear for.

i dont think rng should.be replaced just also have a vendor to give inbetween rewards. to make it feel like your achieving something more often in the endgame
