You mean the old old forums or the ones from a few months ago? The ones from a few months ago are trash compared to the new. New forums have way more useful features and are much more mobile friendly.

I just want to be able to ignore people

There have been something like 5 iterations of the forums. Given that Blizzard has moved ALL their games to this same forum style (Discourse), which makes it easier for a single Website support team to maintain, I’d say we’re never getting them back.

(And, believe me, I despise the space-wasting clutter. Even in my email clients, I opt for the most compact look possible. However, it’s not going to change for me, or for you, when it seems to be the modern look enough people like.)

Yeah not really.
Harder to reply, harder to quote, cant ignore folks which i dont see as an issue but a lot do. Havent used the search but it is probably just as useless.
I don’t really care a out imbedded video or links and even if I did it still wouldnt be much of an improvement.
No really seeing an upside to them. They arent any faster or more efficient on my phone or tablet and they keep hitting me with a pop up asking if I want to added it to my home screen.
If anything the new forums are multitudes more annoying

…You’re on the classic wow forums. I think it’s safe to say most people here hate change.

I disagree.

You literally just highlight the section you want to quote and click “quote”. I don’t know how much easier it could be. I believe this feature existed before on a PC browser, but you couldn’t do it on mobile before.

Also, there was no easy way to go back to the post if you wanted to quote a different section or another post in the thread. Now there is.

Overall the forums are far more intuitive, full of features and easier to use than what they were before. If you disagree, well you’re probably just not used to it yet.

Links can be very useful when discussing gear.

See! Useful! It would especially be useful if you’re making a guide. I haven’t explored the wiki features yet, but they’re probably pretty neat.

I do kinda wish they would use the wowhead mouse over feature so you could see the item without having to click on it.

To be fair, I’ve found the search more robust on the new forum. If you search within a thread, it will actually list the replies that include the term or character name with a bit of what they’ve posted and a link to jump to that reply. (Part of that robustness might just be that the forums are newer and the indexing is nowhere near as bloated as it eventually will be.)

I like the new forums, for the most part. They seem a little glitched at times, such as hitting “Reply” not registering as a reply to a post unless it has a quote inside. The notifications are also a little wonky in terms of displaying unread messages on the front page (which I don’t even see on mobile, only on my PC).

But in total, it’s a good system.

Or maybe i prefer a traditional forum format and do not like the current.

It isnt a matter of getting used to it.

You like the new forum I dont its as simple as that. You have your reasons for liking it and I have mine for disliking it.

There is no traditional forum format. The format of a forum, like anything else on the internet, is always changing. That’s the nature of pretty much everything tech related. People are always coming up with something better.

Oh, sure it is. It’s the same story every time facebook updates their UI or a website comes out with an update. People don’t like it because they’re not accustomed to it. But there’s a reason they updated the forums. They were outdated and lacking a lot of features which a lot of modern forums have.

Give it time. Once you get used to it and learn how to utilize some of the new features you might just change your mind.

I will agree though that they should probably reimplement the ignore feature.

New forum is great IMO.

Actually yes there js a traditional forum format and layout. It also happens to be the one 90+% of all forums utilize

Again it isnt a matter of getting used to it.
I do not like it never will and your facebook analogy has no merit because when they made changes i 100% could not tolerate i deleted my facebook account.

If you mean the vanilla forums then I agree.
