Give people the option to use fullscreen and not that windowed fullscreen bs… thank you
Since this is a limitation of Directx12 I would say maybe go hit the Microsoft forums. Not much Blizzard can do about someone else’s solution.
I’ve come to REALLY like the windowed fullscreen. I don’t have to alt tab to move my mouse to my second monitor. It’s GREAT.
They removed fullscreen from the game completely even if you roll back to dx11.
Because they had to set it up for Dx12. it is not reversible . Complain to microsoft not blizzard
They didn’t have to do anything yet. They still had years until the conversion was necessary. And they could have kept fullscreen for dx11 users. They chose not to.
Always trying to feign innocence.
Is this why I had a black bar on my screen and needed to reconfigure my UI after DX update? I remember seeing the NVIDIA pop-up, but didn’t connect the two.
no some of the newer cards don’t play well with Dx11 straight up. Since the GTX 980 was out. it was microsoft’s push for it . Leaving it until the last second is the worst thing
But optimization is not about designing your game around ONLY the latest graphics cards. And as usual, they made choices that further hurt the optimization of the game.
Microsoft simply wants everyone to upgrade to windows 10, hence their announcement of the end of 7 support. One could blame Microsoft for the destination but we can also point to blizzard for their premature direct path to said end.
No you can’t. because if they didn’t make the push those using the newer cards would have issues. This is not blizzards fault for once. this is microsoft 100% because they are still trying to force every one to the same playing field to make their life simple. Like how Google wrote code in to some of their sites to mess with other browsers, so people would switch to a chromium based browser
Yeah you can.
No it is not. Blizzard had years until it was necessary to transition completely and they chose to do it way too early.
No … no they didn’t . LOL … Maybe because i work in the tech field for a living , it is easier for me to understand the reasons. But it is no so cut and dry as you think. if you look at the amount of cards that use DX12 and how many of the people play wow with those cards . then you will see it out weighs the few who want Fullscreen mode not windowed (fixed sorry i was laugh to hard to type this out right). the needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few
There’s nothing wrong with Windowed Fullscreen. Been playing WoW that way for a decade. And if you’re playing on a dual monitor setup, it’s very beneficial.
Then you may need to do more research. The requirement was before the end of 7 support. That ends next year. THAT is why they added dx12 support to 7. To allow a long transition.
It was not necessary in 2018.
Oh please.
BTW, Nvidia wasn’t totally prepared for dx12 yet at the time of implementation.
x for doubt
Pretty much this. Good luck, op.
Whatchu talking about? In still using full screen?
I mean… it’s significantly easier for them to make the change well ahead of time so that they can fix any issues before they are forced to do so and suddenly nothing works.
DX12 does not support traditional fullscreen mode for various reasons but it really isn’t Blizzard’s fault as they were just trying to mitigate any potential issue before it arose to provide the best experience possible for the majority.
Alt-tabbing out of the old fullscreen sucked anyway. Games tended to hang or crash half of the time. Generally speaking the new way is superior.
You’re using windowed fullscreen. It looks the same. It’s just that, in rare cases, some people have issues with it causing framerate drops and what-not.
It is usually folks running outdated hardware.
I have done lots of research. I deal with Fixing stuff like this for a living. Yes i know when the Windows 7 end of life date is. You never wait until the last second to implement changes like this. You ALWAYS doing it ahead of the curve to insure it works and all bugs are worked out before cutoff. YOU need to do some research about Software and Hardware development . as the the Doubt comment. … This was already covered once when they switched for windowed fullscreen. This whole conversation has happened before on the forums … and as you notice … we still have windowed fullscreen. sooooo that should tell you something. Maybe you don’t know as much as you think about this subject. Do i miss fullscreen. … sure. it was nice . Then again there is nothing wrong with windowed fullscreen either . It is a very small part of the wow community that still want that feature
What you’re seeing is not true full screen.
