I have no clue why essence font was removed. could someone explain the logic behind it? I know when it comes to “meta” people didnt use it. but for the 90% of casual players, we enjoyed it, world pvp, being able to move and heal was essential. i even used it in arenas, mind you i was never 2400+ but i was 2000, having a movable heal even if it was small, was important. PvE content, no different, as you are moving to the next pack of mobs in M+ being able to top everyone off with essence font without slowing down was great. it was a great HoT in raids.
From my understanding they are trying to move towards a fistweaving build. MW monk is already the least played spec in the game, now forcing towards a 1 style play is going to limit even more people from playing MW. I was never a fistweaver player, i enjoyed the true healing of monk. oh well RIP MW Monk i guess.

True Monk Healing = ability added in 4 years into the Spec’s lifetime.
Yep this is mistweaver discourse in a nutshell.
It was removed because when it came to EF balance it was either feast or famine. We would either have it at the top of our breakdown in raid (feast) which was pretty unfun since it’s just a channel, or we would never press it because the HoT + Bolt healing wasn’t enough to warrant the high mana cost (famine).
With the double Mastery proc it was also causing issues with balancing our Mastery, since you’d always have to account for the double proc. Now that EF has been removed, our Mastery has been buffed to make up for the removal of the interaction and we’ve received some additional talents as well – so our Mastery is actually stronger than it was when EF existed.

I get what you’re saying, and it makes sense, but if I’m not mistaken every other healer has a way to heal while moving. Outside of renewing mist and major CDs, like revival or yulon we really must stay stationary. I guess we get occasional vivify insta casts, but from a pvp perspective it’s pretty lame we can’t do much when on the move. That being said, I suppose having transference, ring of peace, leg sweep, paralysis, torpedo help keep us away to allow us to stand still.
Thunder focus tea into enveloping is a powerful instant cast on a low cd. Two charges with Master of Harmony, and greatly reduced cd on occasion with Conduit. Conduit also adds another powerful healing cd that can be used while moving, to add on the pile with celestial, cocoon and revival.
Then you got the entirety of fistweaving and however you feel about that. But yes, as you mentioned, moving is something monk is good at.

Essence Font was a cool spell. Bring it back in place of Sheilun’s Gift in the tree. Ditch the 2x buff to mastery component and have it spawn a mist/orb like current Sheilun’s whenever you proc a Gust of Mist. When used, have it suck in the mists to increase healing done.
Add followup talent choices that either make it a beefier reactive heal like SG or reduce the healing in exchange for buffs that increase healing done and/or buff melee attacks (proactive use). This preserves a cool spell in line with the channel based heal fantasy of MW, in addition to its synergy with mastery and TFT.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. I know top players didn’t really prefer EF, but without it healing just feels not that great. Even if it wasn’t very impactful most of the time it gave us something to push when we absolutely could not stand still.
Surely there could have been some way to rework it instead of just removing it, because as it stands now monk is a class about movement that has no way to heal while moving outside of procs. It doesn’t really make any sense.

All they have to do is add it as a 2nd skill where Zen Pulse is and the problem would be solved.

I don’t mind essence font being gone myself. It was a fun spell in raids, and I loved tft-ing an upwelling essence font and then extending via rising mist/rsk, but I hated having the extra steps to “set up” in m+.
Revival also needs a buff in raids imo. ( it’s fine in m+ )
We still have a ton of movement healing in pve imo ( like mentioned above ), but I don’t pvp so no comment there. Though part of me wishes that tft-env mist packed a bit more of a punch ( the instant heal portion we get for tft-ing it ) like it used to.
My only complaint is Conduit’s animation. I kinda hate how we zoom around in meditation stance tbh.
I miss it as well and current MW seems to be designed with the intent of pushing fistweaving on it more then casting.

Evoker needed it more. Likely Mage will be getting Crackling Jade Lightning next as a “Crackling Arcane Lightning” Glyph.
