You do know that moving to TBC/Wrath was the right thing to do as they where the progression realms you made your character on?
Some of us never even logged in our characters to TBC Classic or Wrath Classic. Even if the clones are gone, I am pretty sure a little software developer ingenuity could be deployed to find a way to copy a fresh level 60 Wrath Classic character back to Classic Era.

They could do it! i have the data in Wotlk⌠i have not logged into my character more than 30 minutes ever since i came back. All they gotta do is copy and paste!

Well in the vein of anecdotes to get your hopes up:
In late October 2005 I deleted by Horde and Alliance mains to force myself to focus on school at the time (yeah, I was down bad). During Legion I saw a post that made me randomly decide to open a ticket and ask of these characters could be restored, noting that this was a shot in the dark, and they were given back to me no problemâonly missing a few items that no longer existed in the game by then.
Weâre talking characters that had been deleted over a decade before.

Account data is different than character data. Account data has all these forum posts linked to it, potentially in game conversations (for security reasons) and linked to every character across all versions of the game. The classic wow character data from 2004 (19 year old technology) would be measured in bytes per property.
I will still request my game data to see if character data is included. If it is included I will get back to you on the actual size of each character x 100 million characters. This will take 1 month btwâŚ
You have to remember as the video says there are hundreds of millions of characters on each server and thatâs for each region so Iâm not surprised the data is gone.
He says billions then redacts it to hundreds of millions which are greatly different numbers. So Iâm taking that number thrown out as a gross overestimation by the PR team. You can only make so many characters per account and there arenât hundreds of millions of unique people playing wow today.

Can some just delete this whole thread. Its pointless⌠we wonât be able to get our characters. Thanks to who ever made the call on transfering our characters and deleting our character data!

I requested my data and already got it, I actually got it 24h after requesting. So they only give you data you typed in, anything generated on the backend servers is not included so all character data is non-existent except for the name of your character. They gave me names of characters I have previously deleted, whatâs interesting about that is they are keeping this data from years ago, back when I played retail 17 years ago.
Another interesting note is they only seem to keep chat history from the last 1 year, so they dump that data yearly which makes sense because strings would be the highest memory load on the database and stored at the account level, they also donât need to be recovered except for proving TOS breaking behavior .

blizzard 100% has the data for your characters and theyâre waiting for the perfect moment to come out with some battle pass or cash shop to get it undeleted.

I am bumping this because it is true. We need this back I have over 7 characters from classic I want to enjoy once more at level 60 and so much hardwork and time has went into them. I want to complete my tier collections and try to finish a legendary for my rogue. Please bring back the cloning service. I didnât even play Wotlk and all my characters are there sitting stuck.
