How large do you think 1 character is? 1 GB or less?

I would guess less, but thatâs only a guess.
At 1 GB times 100 million clones we are at 100 PB.

I doubt itâs 1 GB but I could be wrong ofc. Think of the things that are 1 GB or 10s of GB in size and think⌠does 1 character really sound like it would take up as much space as those things? Doesnât to me.

Even if itâs 100MB thatâs still only knocking one zero off the total.
Regardless⌠there are ways of making non-changing data smaller. They took the lazy route, either through incompetence, negligence, or disrespect for their customers.

Iâm far from an expert here, but I would assume for a professional operation the data storage has ancillary data costs. Backups, encryption, etc. Me, storing my toon on a thumb drive, it might be a significantly smaller file than what Blizzard needs to devote to it on their servers.
Or the fact they thought surely everyone who wants to clone should have done it by now. People had 15 months to do it.
That is silly to assume. Of course people bored with vanilla back when it was over will think they donât need the character. But times change and some things become desirable again. Not everyone is good at planning ahead. It doesnât mean you should just delete data. Very negligent.

And no, your characters are not gone, they are exactly where you left them. On the progression realms.

Claiming theyâre incompetent isnât too much of an assumption though, considering how well Diablo 4 and DF are retaining players. (spoiler: they arenât) Have you heard about how Diablo 4 inventories for each player are loaded? Lols.

It was a business decision, if you donât like it then vote by cancelling your subscription.
Itâs everyoneâs discretion to determine when some thing, or multiple things, warrant cancelling a subscription and quitting. I still raid on wrath so Im not quitting or doing that sub cancelling nonsense. Doesnât mean other people havenât been dropping it like itâs hot.
