Bring back downvoting đŸ„”

the forums were better when they had downvoting. I remember instead of having to sift thru undreds of posts, u only had to look for the votes to know wether the post was popular or not. and Blizz used to say ‘we have this bc it’s better than endless pages of “i agree” or “i disagree”’ and tbh i agree with that logic

Honestly, people thinking that flagging and bringing an automated system’s wrath upon someone is the same as down voting is more than enough reason to bring it back. It was a nonsensical decision to remove it.

Truth. The only downside, especially on Server’s specific forums. (Looking at you RP servers.) It was widely abused, and in the GD as well.

I’d like it back and like it being gone at the same time. In general the flag system seems to work well, I just hate how it is limited, that is where the flaw is at.

Way too many troll threads that Dislike would hide while Flagging doesn’t hide it.

I think the ability to down vote should come back. It could cause problems with people being able to swap charactors and vote again though.

The downvoting system was abused. I am happy it is gone.

Why I am posting in this topic is I heard you are unable to ignore someone with the new layout. This seems preposterous to me. Yes we should all be acceptable of every ones opinions, but not having this feature is just bizarre to me. It’s on every single social platform.

I haven’t tested this out yet, but I am just saying.

Downvoting literally doesn’t hurt anyone though. “It was abused”? Why? You had a negative number against your name and a dim post?

It was removed because people complain that they got their feelings hurt cause a random twerp on the internet didn’t like their post, but they really should be saying to themselves; who cares that some random twerp on the internet downvoted their post? Haters gon’ hate.

maybe the “safe” version of downvote. like it still only shows the number of likes but downvotes don’t cause that like number to go down. like youtube’s version if that makes sense.

I up vote this post! I’d rather have the down vote tool abused than have to wade through a million troll and sjw posts.

Removing the tool didn’t fix anything it just made the forums worse.

“Who cares that someone posted something I disagree with?”

In other words, if you dislike a post that much just ignore it
or make a comment. How does the downvote help you or anyone else?

I mean most of the time people use the downvote feature to disagree instead of downvoting comments that aren’t constructive so usually unpopular opinions get buried in downvotes.

Downvote was literally only ever used on posts that people didn’t agree with.

That aside i miss it

To be fair, likes are also used because someone agrees with you not necessarily because it is constructive.

If downvotes are going to stay gone, likes should be removed as well, imho. I wouldn’t be against both existing, however, if they functioned like Kittsuera mentioned.

The problem is the majority of people are of average or below intelligence.

Determining what should be read by popularity seems a fool’s errand.

Down-vote me . I dare you :rage:

Likes and dislikes are just fake internet points. It’s the function that’s missing, not the intent. A positive or negative number are irrelevant, the real metric is engagement (the entire purpose of game forums).

I wish that I could downvote this thread

I’d prefer that downvoting stay gone, and that Blizzard take more serious action against people that flag others for no good reason.

The removal of downvoting made plenty of sense to me.

Hmm, I always took lack of upvotes the same way as a downvote, lack of interest or lack of enthusiasm, ie no one agrees and/or cares, so don’t continue to post. Am I doing it wrong?
