Bring back backstab

i miss backstab, that was core ability.

We still have it and the damage modifiers are still available to be picked if you like that playstyle. Was there a nerf that I missed?

they replace backstab to other ability, further down the talent, as far i know.

You’re thinking of Gloom Blade.

gloomblade as a talent replacement for backstab had been a thing since legion. DF is the first time gloomblade was tuned to a point its an regularily picked over backstab.

Some builds don’t take gloom blade

Then just don’t take Gloomblade. It was always one of the smaller dps gains and easily swapped out, and now with 10.2 it’s not even recommended to take.

I mean, it is very rogue like

agree, when it used to actually do damage. the old animation was the best too, the ol reach around one is as bad what i just named it

I could go for me a good Reach-around Blade

Backstab with some Waylay mechanics should have been the way to go. They could have tweaked Waylay mechanics for the modern game.

I mean there is a poison version of it but it requires sacrificing crippling while old school Waylay gave a slow and attack speed debuff all in one. It rewarded Rogues for landing a true backstab during Shadow Dance + stuns or in PVE against bosses from behind.

i think you people are misunderstanding what he means by “bring back” were talking cata days, when backstab actually did some burst damage outside of dance. and YES that needs to come back. when someone is stunned and we are trying to do some good burst without actually BIG bursting outside dance windows… thats when backstab should be good, and ONLY useable when behind target. bring back hemorrhage.

Idk even in Legion I switched between that and I think Master of Subtlety the other choice was, that increased dmg by just 10% during stealth/dance. Gloomblade had insane value in pvp when against paladins cuz it would go through a BoP’d target and i’d just use that during dance instead of shadowstrike to secure the kill if needed.

gloomblade was the go to in PVP against plate. I’m mostly referring to PVE. It was a dead talent in pve.

I definitely appreciate lingering + pv to help as a personal choice when you are out of dance and cds. Definitely love that we weren’t completely nixed on that. Definitely miss backstab / gloom being a big hitter to end jokers.

Things like those described need to remain talent options instead of being left out to make room for silly nonsense but this iteration is still good and depends on how we build, just wish more options were provided in future implementations.
