I know there are trillions of posts about this which is great because it’s obvious the majority are against the removal of addons.
We aren’t the minority here, removing addons was the biggest mistake ever made to this game. nobody asked for it. I’m not being arrogant.. the people that are happy now are the normies that don’t even CARE about competitive raiding or PVP in the first place, so the changes won’t effect them regardless.
Nothing was broken or lazy about addons. in fact, most of those addons should’ve been in the default UI.
Please, bring back addons, and keep the current UI for whoever wants to use it.
While I was playing with multiple add-ons for mythic raiding, there are people in my raid group who use none and do just fine. They aren’t an absolute necessity, but it brings a flavor to the game that is now absent.
I really agree. Yes, I can still heal without cell and wa but I loved my custom interface and find I enjoy the game less because of the interface I’m now forced to use.
A simple example is rip tide. I had my interface set up so my healing frames changed color when rip tide was active. That functionality is gone but the frames show an icon for rip tide. So can I still see who has rip tide active? Yes but it’s not nearly as easy or convenient.
I enjoyed heavily customizing the interface, it’s one of the things that drew me to the game originally.
None of this has anything to do with, “play the game for” stuff and Blizzard is so tone deaf they don’t realize the ill will and sense of betrayal they created.
using a nuclear weapon to destroy an anthill is just dumb but that’s Blizzard.
Blizz throwing a wrench into years of work and making things harder for people already working for free as they replace stuff with their own lower quality content
This can occur at anytime as they make changes to how the game works and their overall vision. Anyone who has read the license agreement knows anything can and will change in this game at any given time for any reason they see fit.
But the answer in short to your question: It gives them vastly more control over how you approach their endgame content. This control they feel will lead to freeing them up design wise in Raids, M+, and Arena.
I’m hoping it just gives me more time to be at a certain spot without getting one shot if I do engage with it. And maybe introduces slightly new mechanics or designs we haven’t yet seen. This all usually trickles down to all difficulties. I do happen to engage with Normal and rarely Heroic mode Raiding, and low M+ keys, and so I’ll notice like anyone else.
I’m also fond of them deleting Vulpera but we won’t go there.
Check out the boss design of the last boss of March on Quel’Danas for reference. Seems like an experiment for new designs or slightly new in the least. I btw am simply referencing others comments and how they responded after seeing it.
Times are changing my friend. But yes there still are timelines, for now… mwahahahahaha!
