Brightness concerns

I’ve personally noticed that forever is significantly darker than retail or era. The fog I can get used to (though I’d love a slider), having the game be this dark is actually starting to hurt my eyes and hinder my gameplay. Has anyone come up with a good solution? I’ve tried raising the gamma slightly, but this poses a new concern of colors being blown out. What are everyone’s thoughts?

Gamma primarily affects midtones. Brightness affects the entire range.

My solution: gamma + contrast.

Adding contrast moves the range up or down, whichever is closer, increasing saturation.

You will brighten up the image and increase color saturation while keeping darks dark and brights bright. Push either gamma or contrast too much and you will blow them out, especially dynamic range and crush colors, losing readability.

Thanks! This is great insight. I’ll have to tweak these together little by little. I’m hoping they give a slider for the fog to help remedy this too.

Why does it have to be dark for hours and hours? Why the thick, hazy fog you can’t even see the game properly through, and what’s with the driving rain? Why strain peoples’ PCs when you can’t even make your way through the landscapes with all this junk on?

They desperately need to either start handing out torches, or (hopefully instead) quit screwing with the lighting/environments and instead work on things that actually help and make the game better, like fixing the AH and the mail system, sheesh!

Yeah it really looks like someone applied their super dark + high contrast reshade to the game… not a fan
