So I lvl’d my monk to make a WW monk (as almost all monks are WW), and figured I’d try Brewmaster while my gear is so bad. I’ve started to enjoy brewmaster, and I’m just not good at WW (i’ve never played a melee class before at any type of meaningful lvl, just priest and hunter, and even then i’m not sure meaningful is the right word).
I still switch in and out of specs for fun, but i was thinking of trying to do Brewmaster for RBGs, anyone have any experience with this? Looking the pvp leaderboards, Brewmasters aren’t well represented, but is that because WW is good right now? Or if i really enjoy tanking should i just be trying out a druid or a DH for pvp? I was in an RBG yesterday and they passed over a Brewmaster with slightly better gear for a DH, so that’s why i’m asking questions. The main reason Brewmaster was passed over is because they didn’t know about Brewmasters (if they were any good), but they knew about DH’s.
If it’s mobility, Brewmasters can come with a variety of mobility, but for me, i wasn’t sure how well stagger worked in pvp, and it’s hard to tell in BG’s because of the imbalance of teams and gear.
Also if anyone knows any good guides I’m willing to do further research.
They’re not good and you won’t get into groups as one. WW is the only even remotely meta monk spec for rbgs at the moment. There’s like one Brewmaster player and he’s stuck 1900 after 200 games, playing with the same team 10+ hours a night. It’s not worth the hassle unless you have friends willing to invite you.
that’s what i was afraid of. I may try a DH or something just to see if it’s as enjoyable.
I really was hoping WW would work for me, but low skill lvl, low Ilvl, and a squishy class makes it really hard to learn (at least for me).
Yeah, they’re super squishy. Even at 2400 mmr if our monk gets caught in a bad spot, he’ll die almost instantly.
Your best bet for gaining rbg rating though is sticking with disc. Feel free to copy my talents/stat prio/etc.
I think brew was good in legion with hot trub in team fights but its since been nerfed.
I just started playing disc in rbg’s after trying out resto shaman and mistweaver monk. I can’t believe how much better disc is. Radiance is amazing.

You go oom extremely fast but it’s super forgiving. I’ve been playing it for 3 weeks and managed to hit 2100 in rbgs on my alt priest while learning it lol. I played shadow to 2200 on this guy and probably am just going to main disc for the rest of the season.
Disc is my main, and I enjoy it. It is forgiving, and has many strong utilities with it. Disc is very strong in BG’s right now (and I’m sure for better players it is for arena’s as well). I struggle with when to use MC/apply pressure. When i try to my partner seems to drop. Really for me MC has been the biggest issue. I just never use it at the right time.
I tried making a resto shammy, and i struggled with how many key binds they need in pvp compared to disc. I’m also older, slower to react, and just don’t put the time and effort into learning things like i used to for wow.
Yeah, shaman has so many things to keybind. I haven’t done a lot with MC yet, but thought steal and mind games are a lot of fun.

Lezin on EU is 2700 playing brew only in 3s.
worldpvp is 2500 playing brew in rbgs.
its possible. I enjoy it. Only issue is there are no guides. everything is either learned or found out from trying to guess how they play at that high, or just straight up asking them in a pst.
I think the main issue is how they work in PvP. With how WW monks and other classes are performing, there is virtually no reason to bring a Brew Master monk. This isn’t to say they’re not viable, they are. The other specs and classes just have more to offer, though I’d personally love to see more BM monks in PvP.
